It's me again. The novice hunter with a 10 year-old son that LOVES hunting (and fishing, but I'm an expert there!). I'm taking him out for the Youth Turkey Hunting Day on 4/5 and I would like some advice on where to hunt.
I was thinking about CF Phelps, Quantico, or the Izaak Walton League - Alexandria (I'm a member). I don't know anything about the Turkey populations in these areas so any advice will be appreciated. I'm limited to public lands except for IWL. Are there any other public lands that may be productive?
FYI-We've hunted deer, squirrel, and rabbit since we began hunting in the Fall of 2013.

Hey If I was you I would just go out in the area that you wanted to hunt and look for signs of turkey. Look for the roosting areas and places where they scratch and feed at. Take you a Box call out with you and see if you can call one in to answer you.
Here is a good site for you learn how to track and find where the turkey have been. Just take your time in the woods and enjoy yourself and the time with your Son and see what you can find.
