Accomack County CHP wait time?

Post by dieselgator »

Hey Everyone,

I finally found some time to get down to the Accomack County Clerk of Courts office to put in an app for my CHP. It was a very pleasant and convienient experience. The clerk himself, Mr. Samuel Cooper, even came out and said hi to me. I opted for the plastic ID card. I had my picture taken and was in and out in less than 15 minutes. Now I just have to obsessively check my mailbox everyday!

Can anyone give me their experiences as far as wait times in Accomack County?

Thanks!
Tom

Well I got my CHP in the mail today! Issued 2/4, applied 1/6. Not bad! Going to celebrate with a new handgun purchase :first:

Awesome.

The wait times seem to vary quite a bit from county to county. Mine took 10days. I know other CHP holders in my county, & they took about the same.

Tom, congrats on the permit! Any insight to what direction you may go for a pistol?

Well I recently bought a S&W 442 that I really like, but find it too big for pocket carry in the regular cut type jeans I normally wear. So I am leaning towards something slimmer...i.e. a Ruger LCP or the Taurus TCP. Several of my friends have had good luck with the latter.

Forgot to add that I have a Galco Summer Comfort holster coming for the smith..its an inside the waistband type. So long as it doesnt print under a normally fitted tshirt all carry that on occasion.

Sounds good. I used to carry an LC9 for about a year. It was a great pocket gun. anything in that size range should be pretty easy to conceal.

Fitted clothing makes IWB conceal carry pretty tough to pull off. Especially if you tuck in your shirts. If you get where you want, the 442 might be a better carry piece, but keep a prepped speed loader in your pocket.

Have fun and good luck with the search. Window shopping is always a good time.

Definitely would like to carry the 442, I can see it working a lot better as a pocket carry once cargo shorts season comes back in...and being a Florida transplant that won't be until early June lol.

I hear that! LOL I was in St. Pete for about 4 years. My family is still out there. While we were having low 20 degree weather... mom was telling me it was in the 80's there.
