Preparing for a new arrival

Post by AlanM »

Well, I've gone and done it.
The prices of the ammunition for all of the firearms in my safe and else where have caused me to rethink my aversion to metric calibers.

Yesterday, I stopped by my local purveyor of things that go BANG! and became the first on their waiting list for a Remington R-51 9mm subcompact. The lady behind the counter (owner, I believe. Quite knowledgeable anyway. ) hadn't heard of it but checked her distributor's website and said it's listed, so my name and phone number went into the "wish book".

What's an R-51? Take a look here. And here.

Just like any other new baby there's going to be a bit of a wait before the delivery.

One step closer to my ideal pistol, especially on the purchase price.

Alan... I recently read an article on that gun and it immediately went on my wish list. I've been a revolver guy, but I've been contemplating a semi-auto, specifically a 1911, but this gun may have jumped ahead. Give a review when you get it.
When I go for handgun ammo, 9mm is typically more available than .45, as well as .38 and .357. I see a lot more of it than other semi-auto calibers.
The lines on that gun have a cool ray-gun look to it, too. Like 1920's sci-fi.

In Truth? It's a "new pistol", but it's an OLD DESIGN! I have no worries about the functionality of the weapon. Fit, and Finish will be Remington quality.
