VCDL Welcomes New Board Member

Post by allingeneral »

Regretfully, longtime VCDL Board member, Jim Kadison, has had to step down from the Board for personal reasons. :-(

Because Jim is a quiet and humble man, most of you have no idea of the many sacrifices he has quietly and happily made for VCDL.

I have always had a huge respect for Jim and his steadfast allegiance to liberty, and trust me when I say that we owe him a huge debt of gratitude - a debt that he would deny that we owe him.

Happily, Jim will remain an Executive Member and will continue to help us fight for our rights, albeit at a less demanding level.

--

The VCDL Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Jim Kadison's position on the Board will be filled by Executive Member Al Steed, Jr.

Al will have some very tall shoes to fill, but Al has never been one to slough off a challenge.

Hailing from the Roanoke area, Al, who has been a VCDL EM for many years, brings to the Board a strong representation of the fine people in the southwestern part of the Commonwealth. Thanks to Al (and also to EM Dave Knight and member Sherrill Smith), VCDL's presence and membership in his part of the state went from almost nothing to being a well represented part of our organization.

Al runs VCDL gun show operations in the Roanoke/Salem area, mobilizes volunteers, and has organized VCDL meetings, picnics, and shooting events on a regular basis throughout Southwest Virginia.

Al is soft-spoken but highly motivated and tenacious, and his knowledge, experience, and leadership will be a welcome addition to the Board as we face future challenges to gun owners.

I am also pleased to announce five new Executive Members, with four of them being of the fairer sex:

Tess Ailshire - Tess is the current VCDL newsletter editor and she has been active at VCDL events and meetings for years.

Jacque Blundell - Jacque is the current VCDL membership director and she has turned that critical job into an art form.

Susan Brush - Susan has law enforcement experience and has been an active VCDL volunteer at gun shows, especially in the Richmond area. She is knowledgeable and is interested in getting more women involved in VCDL and guns.

Patricia Webb - Pat has been active in getting women involved in shooting for many years now. As a retail business owner, she has been the victim of a robbery and knows full well the importance of being able to protect oneself.

Matt Gottshalk - Matt has produced some of the fantastic, professional quality videos of VCDL events that you have seen on the VCDL web site. His efforts, which have been quite time consuming, have helped to give VCDL a solid image for the world to see.
