I came across and article about an anti-gun politician getting robbed and beaten "inside" of a Starbucks which was also "inside" a mall.
An anti-gun politician getting robbed and assaulted in a gun-free zone inside of a gun-free zone. Irony or Poetic Justice?
This was in Minnesota, BTW. They are both Shall Issue and Right to Carry / Open Carry.

A few days back, I read about an armed robbery at a Starbucks in Arlington.
Anyone else hear if crime at the now "gun free" Starbucks has gone up?

"As dozens watched the attack on the 63-year-old, no one stepped in." There's a shocker.

Right? And where was Gecko45 and the other Mall Ninjas? Hiding, I'm sure.

I think I would've gone nuts and come close to killing one of those kids if they jumped me. They're lucky he showed restraint.

Are you sure the Starbucks was a CPZ?
(Criminal Protection Zone)
As far as I know corporate hasn't told it's stores to post.

I haven't been to a Starbucks in years. I don't know if they posted anything at the store level. I am mostly going by the news history and the public announcement letter they published.
Re: Crime At Starbuck Going Up???
last I knew, the policy at the store level was:
The store is not posted as a crime-friendly place, but firearms are now prohibited, and if they see one, and you are not LE, they will ask you leave the store.

That's actually the opposite of what the letter says and what the separate, clarified guidance to employees has been. Employees are specifically told *not* to engage armed customers. Furthermore, while the letter says "firearms" it specifically addresses OC and makes no mention of CC.jdonovan wrote: if they see one, and you are not LE, they will ask you leave the store.

Back to the story: If a group like us hasn't really read the policy thoroughly, you can bet the criminals haven't either. I'm betting they only heard "guns are banned at SBUX", just like a lot of pro-gun people seem to have.
I'm a (mostly) "growed-ass man" and I sometimes go to SBUX if I feel the urge (for strong, expensive coffee) - and I still carry every time, although I carry concealed. I wish there was a Dunkin' closer to my office, but there isn't...
You can thank the @sshats who chose to make a private business a nexus for controversy for the larger issue here. Both the antis and the dipsh1ts with ARs strapped across their backs. (Yes, I'm saying that you're a d1psh1t if you're sitting in a coffee shop - or anyone's private business with an AR - just to prove a point. Save the symbolic stuff for the rallies.)
Flame away.

yep, this is one case where the 2A rights movement mostly had a big PR loose on this.j1mmyd wrote:You can thank the @sshats who chose to make a private business a nexus for controversy for the larger issue here. I probably won't say it as well as Todd did, so I'll just link to his post about this topic. http://pistol-training.com/archives/8604
