Would it be legal.......
Would it be legal.......
If you had a mind to and had a concealed carry permit would it be legal to carry both open and concealed...just wondering..
Re: Would it be legal.......
two legal activities performed at the same time.
What makes you think there would be a problem with doing this?

Yea, there's a thread floating around here about carrying mutiple concealed handguns. In summary of the thread, the general consensus (nonlegal, handwaving stuff) IIRC is that if you're legal to carry concealed, carry what you want. The permit is for a category of carry not a quantity.

And if Bruce Dickinson wants more cowbell, we should probably give him more cowbell!

I've said before and will say again... if you want legal advice ask a lawyer.larry3100 wrote:Didn't know and I do know that there are members here alot more educated about such things as I am..better to ask and look foolish then to be arrested..
That said, armchair reading of the statutes does not give any indication that performing this activity would be violation with any state codes.
Re: Would it be legal.......
Wasn't looking for legal advice or lectures just an opinion..but I guess if everyone here was fortunate enough to be as smart as you then we would have no reason to have a section for questions or discussions....sorry if my asking such a stupid question somehow insulted you..
Re: Would it be legal.......
usually when people ask questions about things it's usually because they have limited knowledge about the subject, and are looking to gain knowledge.
Or the second type of question is because the person has some knowledge of a subject, and have been told something that doesn't seem to align with what they do know about the subject, and they seek clarification.
Your opening question seemed to be more of the 2nd type, which is why I tried to ask why you thought there might be a problem with doing both things at the same time. Your second reply seemed to be more the first type of question.

I took no offense.larry3100 wrote:sorry if my asking such a stupid question somehow insulted you..
I gave you my opinion, but also suggested you get better advice. Many times when people are asking about doing things, its because they actually want to do that thing. I don't want to see you get jammed up because some random persons opinion turned out to be wrong.Wasn't looking for legal advice or lectures just an opinion
Re: Would it be legal.......
ok thats cool...I asked the question because it just came to me the other day and I had no idea if it might be legal or not...I asked the question a couple of years ago about carrying 2 concealed handguns and was told that it was "a concealed HANDGUN permit" not handguns, and that was the reason I was asking about carrying open and concealed...not planning on doing it just wanted to know...thanks

As was said, i agree if you have CCW permit on you with picture ID as required, you can CCW and OC at the same time.
Since CCW requires the above cards, and OC requires nothing.... having your cards on you will permit either or both.
If you are CCW and your weapon happens to show in a fashion where it is obvious it is a weapon it is converted to OC, if your shirt covers it back again, your back to CCW. Make sense?
When I CCW, I make attempts to maintain CCW, but I state above to make logic of it.
YMMV as well as your opinion.

Re: Would it be legal.......
Once again,... this is not legal advice but ... I took some training from a NRA instructor @ the range in Fairfax and he mentioned carrying two concealed pistols. I think this enforces the idea that it covers type of carry.
You just better have a strong belt if your double

Well, that is incorrect. You can carry as many as you want.larry3100 wrote:I asked the question a couple of years ago about carrying 2 concealed handguns and was told that it was "a concealed HANDGUN permit" not handguns
And yes, you can OC/CC as you wish.
