There is a possibility I'll be moving to Blacksburg, VA

Post by Que »

Greetings, everyone. I am currently a Hoosier from the great and free state of Indiana. I love the fact that I have a pistol-caliber public range that is 10 minutes away from my home and a high caliber range about 20 minutes away. I have taken advantage of many training opportunities to stay brushed up on my personal defense, mindset and gun laws education. However, I may be moving.

I'm a member and moderator for the Indiana Gun Owners (INGO) forum and will remain attached to friends, but I want to embrace the great opportunities in Virginia. Can someone tell me if there are public ranges in the Blacksburg area for pistol, carbine and precision high power rifle training/shooting? I just got involved in USPSA and would like to continue to learn more. Also, I'm an orange-hat with The Appleseed Project and would like to continue learning how to teach new and experienced shooters proper marksmanship skills. Lastly, I have had the opportunity to teach the legal portion of the NRA's Personal Defense Inside the Home course.

I'm very involved in maintaining our rights and would like to continue my involvement. Any direction any of you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome aboard, Que! :welcome:

I'm not familiar with the Blacksburg area, but I'm sure someone will be along shortly with some information for you.

Take a look at the VGOF Calendar for upcoming gun shows in your area and we also try to keep Appleseed events tracked in there as well.

and an early welcome to Virginia!

Welcome aboard. If you move to Blacksburg, you can look up the Shawnee Shooting Sports Club. There is also a public range in the national forest nearby.

Appleseed is very active in VA with about 8 events per year. So far, all the events are in central Virginia, which is a long drive from Blacksburg. I'd like to find a host club in the Roanoke/Blacksburg area. We have three events left this year. You know how to use TIPS to find them and sign up if you will be here. We'd love to have you join the team.

Welcome Que! Are you the fellow that did that great blue gun parody video of Yeager's 1911 rant?
