Winchester Defender 1300?

Post by DryBones »

Anybody own 1 or have any feedback on them. I have a potential through my wife's work. going rates seem all over the place on Gunbroker.com. Owner says it's new in box and never been fired. If that's the case this gun has been in a closet for years!

I have the FNH Police Tactical Pump. It's essentially the same shotgun. What do you want to know?

I'd say worth that maybe more. I have a family member with a 1400(20 gauge) and it's really a nice gun. Very very smooth and reliable. The smoothness is what this gun is known for. I'd buy it! Here's a review:

Great gun for home defense, regarding ease of operation, reliability and action. Mine is the Police tactical but operation is the same. I'd recommend getting a Limbsaver Recoil pad. It will make shooting high powered ammo a pleasure to shoot.

Once you get your shotgun, determine the shot patterns at various distances with ammo if your choice. In general, it's 1" spread per yard. So 10 yards gives a 10" spread. Stick with 2 3/4" shells. It's easier to handle and do follow up shots. I use 00 buck, myself.

4 year old shotgun, right?

Post pics, please. Let us know about the range report after you take it out. I always love shooting new firearms.

14 years old. 1999 to 2013 makes it 14 not 4.

Pics are over in show off your hardware section.

I owned a Winchester 1300 defender 7+1 for years and I have to say that it is a good shotgun, it doesnt have as many stock options as a Remington 870 or Mossberg 590, but it still has options, the barrel I had was thick and I shot everything out of it blanks, slugs, buck/bird shot etc... If you are looking for a HD shotgun I would say it is good; for that that pump sound is the international word for get out. But on the other hand I am a pistol guy for HD (home defense) you can have your pistol in one hand and the phone to call the cops in the other, it is a lot harder to do that with a shotgun, plus you can slice the pie tighter (go around corners) with a pistol.
