Is it legal to have a folding stock on a rifle in VA? c

Interesting. I did not know that. One more reason to get a CHP.

They are ok in VA on a rifle if you are 18 or over. The folding stock defines them as an "assault weapon." The CHP only refers to carrying one (assault weapon) in certain townships.

18.2-287.4 doesn't say anything about being 18 years old. And those certain townships and counties just happen to be where I live and work. The way I read it, if I don't have a CHP and load up one of those 33 round Glock magazines and do open carry with it, I've just committed a crime in Fairfax, Loudon, Alexandria, etc...

This one does...possession of an assault weapon (with few exceptions) is forbidden by VA code for those under 18.
