hello -
I am a NoVa transplant, spent a few years in NC, rest of my 40-ish years in Michigan, grew up around farms and safe firearm use, storage, and handling. Had CPL in MI, have CHL in VA. Have done a bit of 3-gun shooting, but I have a wife and young kids, so time is pressing me and I'm lucky to make it to the range once a quarter these days. I like outdoor ranges, and I use 340 defense so I can get outdoors, but I live less than 5 miles from NRA HQ, so I hit that occasionally to maintain familiarity, skills, connection, muscle memory (I hope).
I started as a youth with .22 pump, in teens shot with a relatives .22lr and 9mm (Browning Hi-Power) pistols, and 22lr bolt actions or semi-autos, then bought a Beretta 92, and for about 8 years shot lots of .22lr, 9mm, 12g. 6 yrs ago, got into the 'modern sporting rifles', bought one, then customized one, then assembled a few, and got into Glocks, changed out parts, assembled several, now I am concentrating on shooting more than customizing. I figured out reasonable familiarity with several platforms I like and passed on many of the projects I once had, now am trying to get more trigger time with the firearms I like the best. I have a Form-1 in process (since last Jan) designating an AR as an SBR. I have a trust arranged so my kids will eventually get the benefit of the firearms and related items I've gathered. This was mainly because my wife is not a 'gun person' and would not want to deal with it, but I want my kids to have the option, should they choose to become 'gun people'.
So there's a once over on my situation. I've been a 10 year or so poster on Glock Talk, was a VCDL member within about 10 minutes of arriving in VA, and I look forward to learning from you all on this site, and contributing as I can.
kind regards,
Furioso
