Just saw the oddest thing.

Post by widefat »

I was pulling into a parking spot at a local hardware store, which is in a small strip mall. I noticed a big Ford pickup, jacked high, parked by the sidewalk. I figured they must have run into the hardware store. Dang if a guy didnt come out of the
Local Democrap party hqs and climb in the truck. Someone was climbing in the passenger side - I THINK, cant be sure, but the passenger may have had a sign or something. The truck pulled out, and I noticed several stickers. It was too far away to tell what they all were, but I had a sinking feeling - and sure enough, I made out clear as day, a GLOCK sticker.

What? I sure hope they were delivering pizza. Or, if they were getting a sign, they were going to take it out and use it for target practice. I cant imagine anyone that cares enough about firearms, that they would sticker their vehicle, voting for
McCarpetbagger.

Please, tell me it aint so...

So the cause of your shock and awe was that an alleged non-Republican likes (and possibly owns) a Glock? What's next, you're going to tell me that you know a liberal that likes guns too?

The hell, you say?

News flash: Everyone likes guns, but for different reasons. No big shocker.

That's true. But not all liberals/democrats/whatever are anti-anyone's gun.

Plenty of leftists love gun rights. Hell, you sort of have to be a gun nut to be a communist. It's damn near required.

My grandfather was a Roosevelt liberal. He loved big government and the nanny state, etc. but he also loved his firearms. I wonder what he would think of today's "modern" Democrat party if he were alive to see their nonsense. I can't believe he'd like it.

I've always seen the gun thing as more of a cultural issue than a left/right deal.

The folks at my workplace have many different vehicles. No stickers that I've noticed, though...
I work in an ethnically diverse workplace and, although most are Dem/Lib-leaning, I was surprised (well, not really) at how many are just plain anti-gun. They have stories about bad neighborhoods or someone they know who's in trouble because of gun crime, and they think that guns are the problem. Some have an idea of the so called "gun culture" as a criminal thing, and from their perspective it is. Criminals and thugs have guns.
I like to show them the videos on my phone of my 9 year old daughter shooting at targets at the range. I remark that it's like going bowling; something that families, parents and kids, can do together to have fun. Some folks have been surprised and have realised that not all "gun culture" is bad, noting that teaching responsibility and respect is important. Others have frowned on exposing a child to it. Oh well...
My point... Some folks have personal/cultural/societal differences that make them averse to guns. One may stereotype someone who we thnk would be like them. But... never judge a truck by it's cover...

Dang Swamp! You beat me to it! :hysterical:

I think in their minds, the gun culture of the Left is WAY different than the gun culture of the Right. They're the "softer/gentler" progressive/communists.

They won't own a nasty evil black rifle, or "High Velocity" magazines.

You know what? They probably won't watch anything but PBS, listen to NPR, and read the NY Times... but these "barbarians" that live that "rural" lifestyle are the problems.

Damn straight, suck it up sugar britches, when the ballon comes up, and the poop hits the air circulator... I ain't on YOUR team... And my know-how, trumps your latte machine...
