Post by AlanM »

I just found this post on the Ohioans For Concealed Carry forums.

Encounter in Virginia

postby Dave44142 on Mon Sep 30, 2013 11:04 pm
Last week I was in Virginia to attend a Motorcycle event. My room mate, Also an Ohio C.C.W. Holder
Was riding his motorycyle on a back country County road and did happen upon a "Check Point" He stopped his
Motorcycle and First thing , told the police that he Has a C.C.W and was armed.. He told the police that his firearm
was locked in his right saddle bag. At this time the police responded with a comment, "That is not our fault, it woln't do
you any good locked in there." Just thought that was a fast come back on their part...*grin*
Note: in Ohio you are required to inform any LEO that you interact with on police business.

Here's a link to the thread.

On the two unfortunate occasions where I have been stopped since having my CHP I simply handed my DL, insurance card and permit to the officer. Both times were received the same. They took the papers saw the permit handed it back and said thank you.

VA is not a declare state but it is appreciated.

Nice! Glad to see.

I have only meet one police office in VA that was anti-gun. All the others are pretty cool about it.

Most cops (and I mean COPS, not Admin types) realize that in an emergency, an armed citizen is RIGHT THERE... back up may be minutes away.

If you don't act like an arrogant azz, most are pretty cool.
