Good point. I think I'll lay in a few rounds.

If this picture is true, shooter was a veteran.

Allow me the first reach at a motive - Retired warrant officer, working for NAVSEA and can no longer live being furloughed.

The media have retracted their accusation against Mr. Chance as incorrect.

Another shooting in a gun free zone!!!!! From the AP News: "Metropolitan Police Chief Cathy Lanier said the first call came in just after 8:15 a.m., and that officers were on the scene within seven minutes."

Remember when seconds count the cops are only minutes away.

There was just a black lady on the live link making some kind of statement but the sound was bad. I heard something about "reserving judgment". I think I also heard something about "all these guns".

Dead suspect ID'd as 34 year old Aaron Alexis of Ft Worth, TX. He was recently hired at the base as a civilian contractor.

I also bough some 60-round Surefire mags today - well - ordered them; but they were in stock. I wanted 100-rounders, but they won't even take an order for them.

Interesting concept though, why are DC Metro police responding to a Federal Navy Facility? Shouldn't NCIS or Navy MP units be responding to this incident? Where are the federal police posted here? It is challenging to get into the Navy Yard let alone into the NAVSEA building with firearms. Jesus.

Some parts of the base are not fenced. Buildings associated with the base are on DC streets. Also, the base is open to the public for access to some museums. It has always been pretty easy to get on base as far as I can tell. They ask where you are headed... you tell them... unless they have reason to think you're a threat... you get on base.

If Obama had an assh*le, domestic terrorist brother, would he look like Aaron Alexis?

I wonder if I should buy ammo, or if this one will be less dramatized since the shooter is a man of color.

Edit: I realized that may sound racist, and that was not my intent. My intent, rather, is to point out that the media will portray that he had "work issues" and "was not treated right" vis-a-vis the "white guy with a gun must be nuts" portrayal.

I don't see anything wrong with your comment. You are simply acknowledging that the current administration and the liberal media are racist and put a race spin on everything. This leads to the deflecting based on someone being black and therefore automatically a victim of the white man and his villainous right-wing conservative agenda.

Missed my edit window... sorry for the double post...

Ultimately, the Justice department seems to act on popular opinion rather than fact (as shown most recently by the Zimmerman trail). Why would this be any different?
