New from Hotlanta, just moved to Charlottesville, VA. I'm retired Army also was a sheriff's deputy for two years before going back into IT. I have pistols and rifles and will be looking to learn the vast difference in VA law compared to GA.

Welcome! Keep in mind, Charlottesville is a liberal stronghold. Open carry might get you a few more looks than the rest of central VA. Open carry is legal in places that are not prohibited and concealed permits are supposed to be straightforward to get. VCDL is an excellent organization and can be helpful if your county plays games with the permit process.

Thanks. I had to OC during spring break on our first visit and I had quite a few looks. I can't say more than what you would in downtown Atlanta.
