Maybe a little closer to the way I see things.

Gun-crazy? Me? I'd say the gun-crazy ones are the ones that don’t HAVE one.

Nope! Doesn't include the Ruger Mark I-II-III-22/45!
The S&W 41 is okay, but I think pound per pound. I'll take a Ruger MK Anything anyday of the week!

Wouldn't argue about that.

Not a bad list. I think the P-38 is rated too high but as far as these lists go no argument from me.

Bah. Not a single revolver on the list. The list is faulty.

The S&W 41 is a far better target pistol than any Ruger, short of a highly customized Frankenpistol, could ever hope to be. That said, it's focused on target use. As a pistol for carrying through the woods, I'd go with the Mk II.

That's exactly the first thing I thought ! I have shot and own several Revolvers that (in my opinion ) are far better than a couple on that list. Ruger Bisley .357 Mag. Ruger SP101 .357 Mag. ............OK I Like RUGERS !SHMIV wrote:Bah. Not a single revolver on the list. The list is faulty.

USP? OK, but probably not top ten. P250 and 92FS? Definitely not top ten. XD is a good pistol, but it wasn't ground breaking or important in any way. The single feature that's different for a polymer gun is the grip safety which was a stupid idea from the beginning...just ask John Moses Browning who hated the idea but the military required it. G17 for historic purposes, but G19 is the go to gun. I'll agree the others are historically important.

Re: Top Ten (10) Pistols of All Time
I have never meet a top ten list I agreed with and this 1 is no exception. " We have compiled the top ten pistols based on their overall sales numbers, popularity, functionality, and use" there should be 3 list. sales/popularity, functionality and historically important. and how can any of these list not include a single revolver

Re: Top Ten (10) Pistols of All Time
Just for the record, that is not MY top ten list - as I said when I posted the link, it is merely "Maybe a little closer to the way I see things". There are several pistols on that list I don't own and don't particularly want to own. But at least it is a credible list based upon rational criteria.

Oh! We understand Dorm! We do!
Next question you'll ask is if the 9mm is better than the .45
OR!
Is an AR better than an AK?
Now I would like a TRUTHFUL top ten WORST firearms list!
That would save folks TONS of money! Guns we've bought that we've IMMEDIATELY traded in!

Re: Top Ten (10) Pistols of All Time
Absolutely!
Hungarian PA-63 Makarov in 9x18... That was the most jamming, 4" to the left shooting POS I have ever seen, shot, or held... and keep in mind, I worked at a gunshop for about 2 years TEST FIRING ESTATE/COLLECTION guns on occassion! (yes, they paid me to shoot guns, and clean them. Best job ever, but only paid minimum).
They claim they have improved in the last 20 years, but I ain't taking ANY chances!

Re: Top Ten (10) Pistols of All Time
I'd suggest they rename their list to "semi-auto pistols".SHMIV wrote:Bah. Not a single revolver on the list. The list is faulty.
If they were considering any handgun as a pistol there should be 2 revolvers at least on that. One of which should be the Dan Wesson which was (one of?) the first with a tensioned/interchangeable barrel. Also the TC Contender didn't even make it which played major role in hunting and metallic silhouette shooting.
