Gander Mountain Military/LE/EMS discount?

Post by Gotlabs »

Has anyone asked their local GM if they still offer a discount to Mil/LE/EMS?
The one in Fred said they stopped honoring the discount last week and claimed they never did offer a LE/EMS discount. I know I was behind someone a while back and the cashier gave them a LE discount. The cashier today said it was a corporate decision, not that 5% was that big of a deal. To me, the gesture was worth more than the discount.....so my gesture to GM is I will no longer shop there.

5% is just a start to bring GM's prices down to a fair level. I don't even browse there anymore. :coffee:

Their discount was one of the few reason I shopped there, now I have no reason. GM is on the list with Richards

You know the funniest thing, when GreenTop Sporting Goods knocked them out of the box, and they left town, People said "If GreenTop moves into that building, they're going to be busy ALL the time."

And they're right. I have never seen less than double digits on a REGULAR WEEKDAY in GreenTop, and during the weekend? Triple Digits...

GM has alot to learn about customer service, and loyalty. Along with Dick's Sporting Goods, and Cheaper Than Dirt.

Piss off a gun owner, and you might lose quite a bit of his business, and others as well.

Ya know, I stopped caring about these discounts when companies stopped doing veteran discounts and only did active and retired. I never really cared about them, as I never thought I deserved them, but my wife does and often makes a stink about it.

When I think about it now it really is funny. My dad and my uncle are both retired army, and several other people in my family have served also. Aside from my great uncle who is currently in what is left of the USS Vincennes on the bottom of the Pacific, I am the only other person in my family that has been deployed to a combat zone, yet I can't get the same discount a desk Jockey or brand new airman fresh out of basic training. This pisses my wife off to no end lol.

Even the new veteran ID that Virginia has doesn't get accepted anywhere.

However, Green Top recently regained a lot of my respect they lost when they were the old store. I honestly thought they would get even worse when they upgraded, but they have actually gotten better.

I went in there earlier this year after I found out they were the only ones in the state of VA apparently that had a super redhawk in 454 casull. I went in and talked to one of the associates who actually lowered the price because I was paying cash. As he put my info in the computer he said that I had a veteran discount which lowered it even more. First, I don't remember ever telling them that lol, and Secondly, he didn't have to mention that, and I never would have known and they could have made more money.

Yep! Forget we Hillbillies/Rednecks/Country Folk can walk away.

We're used to doing without.

Exactly V! GreenTop has dramatically tried to improve customer relations because they DID take over the bigger facility. They have to make up for the space! And they HAVE space to put MORE out!

People complain about them being expensive, but they can ADJUST the price!

Green Top has been my #1 place for 40+ years. Who remembers the little store with room to barely sidle around the barrels of rifles and shotguns?
Or for that matter, Hobgoods on Hull or RIchmond Gun Shop on Main?
