Yeah that's code for he was black and they didn't want any retribution. Personally I'd like to say what I want to do to the suspect but this is a family site! >:(

If the conservative gun owners were as ignorant and bigoted as we are commonly portrayed to be by the liberals, race-baiters and gun-haters, There would have been mass demonstrations with hate-filled speeches urging retribution if not outright vigilantism in the streets in some places by now. I'm pleased to see that has not happened. Not even a hint of that AFAIK. Wish I could say the same for a few people aggrieved by the Zimmerman verdict.

Gun-crazy? Me? I'd say the gun-crazy ones are the ones that don’t HAVE one.

Absolutely senseless... The Vet was 88yrs old, waiting outside the local Lodge to walk a lady to her car in order to keep her safe.
No robbery motive; surveillance cameras show 2 black youths. They must have been SO intimidated by this elderly man called "Shorty" that they felt compelled to defend themselves...
UGH. Where is All Sharpton's outrage??? Jesse Jackson's protest marches?

I'm waiting for the President to come out, he can have a two for, Shorty could be my grandfather and if I had a son he would look like either of these bastards.

Re: WWII Vet beaten to death.
I spent my last 5 years of school living just over 2 miles from where that man lived. I'm sure he lived there when I did. ('60-'65).
I inherited the house when my Dad passed on in '86 and finally sold it about 5 years later.
I used to call Spokane the largest small town in the US.
When I was in high school it was front page news when some rowdy kids threw some bottle caps at a couple of cops at a summer slab dance.
(Slab dance: local radio station would come out to a city park's tennis courts with a sound truck and play pop records for the teenagers from dark 'til about 10 or 11.)
The city population sign at the city limits stayed at 181,608 for years. It seemed every time a girl got pregnant a boy would join the service and leave town.
Washington is a nice place to die. No inheritance tax and no probate.
The five of us named in Dad's will sat down with his attorney, she asked, "Anybody got any problems with the will? No? Sign this. Meeting adjourned."

Re: WWII Vet beaten to death.
I just left Spokane last Aug after 16 years. Spokane is quickly becoming Spocompton. Really sad, beautiful area going downhill fast!

Such a sad story. Such a long full life taken away so quickly by stupid street thugs.

Interestingly, in 1959 when JFK spoke in Spokane during his presidential campaign he said that Spokane had the worst news coverage he'd ever seen.Machias wrote:I just left Spokane last Aug after 16 years. Spokane is quickly becoming Spocompton. Really sad, beautiful area going downhill fast!
Both newspapers and all radio and TV stations were owned by conservatives and he found that objectionable.
I'll bet that's changed.
More off topic about Spokane:
When we were there for Dad's funeral in '86 there was a movie company out of LA there filming on location. Because they didn't trust the local caterers they brought up an LA caterer to provide their accustomed meals. At the end of their time in and around Spokane county they all left EXCEPT for the caterer! He and his staff liked the area so much they immigrated.
Now that I think about it they probably brought their liberal thinking with them.
