Mom's new toy

Post by SgtBill »

Yesterday I took the Boss to Farmville with me where I meet up with a young guy named David. David had a Walther PPK/S .380 in the org. box with the spare clip and 25 rds. of Remington JHP's and a holster. He wanted $450.00 and I got him down to $400.00 the Walther now lives in my house. I just orderd a set of Crimson Trace Laser Grip's for it from this forum and Rick. As soon as I have it fully dressed up I will place some gun porn photo's on the board. Mom will be carrying this baby back and forth to the Hospital where she work's. Don't mess with Mom.

My father has one he loves but please be advised there are some that are being safety recalled.

IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL NOTICE - February 20, 2009

PRODUCT:
Walther PPK and PPK/S pistols

DESCRIPTION OF THE HAZARD:
Smith & Wesson has identified a condition that may exist in certain PPK and PPK/S pistols which may permit a round to be discharged without the trigger being pulled. When the manual safety is disengaged, Smith & Wesson’s Product Engineering Group has determined that the possibility exists in certain firearms that lowering the hammer may cause a chambered round to fire.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PRODUCT INVOLVED:
This recall applies to all Walther PPK and PPK/S pistols manufactured by Smith & Wesson from March 21, 2002, until February 3, 2009. The Serial Numbers of the pistol subject to this recall are as follows:

0010BAB - 9999BAB
0000BAC - 9999BAC
0000BAD - 9999BAD
0000BAE - 9999BAE
0000BAF - 9999BAF
0000BAH - 9999BAH
0000BAJ - 9999BAJ
0000BAK - 9999BAK
0000BAL - 5313BAL
0000BAM - 1320BAM
0000LTD - 0499LTD
0001PPK - 1500PPK
0026REP - 0219REP
0001WLE - 0459WLE

REMEDY/ACTION TO BE TAKEN:
STOP USING YOUR PISTOL AND RETURN IT TO SMITH & WESSON AT ONCE.

Any unintended discharge of a firearm has the potential for causing injury, and we ask that you stop using your pistol immediately.

To facilitate the repair of your pistol, please contact Smith & Wesson's customer service department to receive instructions for the return of your pistol to Smith & Wesson.

When you return your pistol to Smith & Wesson, we will replace the existing hammer block feature with a new part at no cost to you. Your firearm will be returned as quickly and efficiently as possible.
VERIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION:
When your pistol is returned, you should note a punch dot which appears at the back of the frame. See the photograph below.

Thank's 45XDC
I was fully aware of this when I got the PPK/S and it in fact need's the recall repair. I have already sent to S&W for the paperwork and will be sending the weapon out to them over the next few week's. This is the reason for the reduced cost down to $400.00

Bill,
I was doing a little research on Walther's PPS when I came accrossed the recall. My father did not know about the recall until I called him. He sent his in and received it back within a few weeks, as I recall. BTW, 400.00 is a hell of a deal. I wish I could have picked up the PPS that I purchased for that. I've been very happy with the .40 PPS and am considering picking up anouther Walther at the Hampton Gun show if the price is right.

Well, she has an excellent instructor, but knowing Bill I'm sure Mrs Bill could give anyone pointers on shooting.

The PPK/S is an awesome little pistol. It's what got my wife into shooting. I told her I'd buy here a gun and asked what kind she wanted. She said "James Bond's gun'. It's an awesome little gun to shoot, easy on the recoil and very pointable.

The recall is for PPK and PPK/S. PPS is an entirely different gun.
