Ranges and Gun Stores on the Peninsula

Post by Langenator »

Recently arrived at Ft Eustis...are there any rifle ranges on the Peninsula (Williamsburg/NN)? Or do I have to journey further afield?

I'll admit to being spoiled...in Texas, I had 3 rifle ranges within about 20 minutes of home.

Also, are there any gun stores in the AO with a good stock of surplus military rifles?

Try Winfree's on US 17 in Yorktown. Cross the Coleman Bridge into Gloucester...we have Hunter's Haven in Hayes, and Six Rivers Armory in White Marsh. As far as ranges go, Lafayette Gun Club in Grafton!

Yeah LGC is over 3000 members now. The membership hold only started a few months ago and is supposed to last a year. As far as I know, it is the best range on the peninsula.

Well, poop.

And Ft. Eustis has distinguished itself as the first place I've been stationed with no personally owned weapons range.

Just moved here recently. Any good ranges on the Eastern Shore near Accomack or Atlantic? I saw some nice looking ranges up around Salisbury, but then you have to deal with Maryland restrictions up there.

Related question: is there anywhere between Williamsburg and Hampton to get either Estate or Rio 12ga #7.5 target ammo?

That's my usual 'local match' 3-gun shotgun ammo (or was), acquired via Academy or Gander Mtn, respectively, for around $5.99-6.49/box.

The only thing I've found locally is Federal #8 target at Bass Pro, for $6.99. Has the price gone up on 12ga since April (last time I bought any)?
