my current pride and joy

Post by YoungGunVA »

So im not a big 1911 fan but as a holster maker, one of the most requested guns was a Sig 1911. Since they dont make a blue gun for the Sig 1911 I was constantly turning down orders since I didnt have access to one. Well, about a month ago, an opportunity arose and I ended up with a GORGEOUS Sig Scorpion 1911. I must say, I REALLY like this gun. Ive only had it to the range once (.45 is so damn expensive. thats why all my other handguns are 9mm lol) and it was a bit finicky with FTFs and failure to return to battery. I have sinced done a few typical 1911 tune ups to hopefully address these issues but in the mean time, I still enjoy fondling this thing. As far as my wife knows, I had no choice but to get this gun for the good of the business ;P

Try Wilson Combat magazines. That might help. Depending on how many rounds habe gone through it, ot may just be breakin or the springs might need replacing. Limp wristing? Hard to say with the given info.

Welcome to the club and enjoy that trigger.

Well, I have found out in the last couple of months...After buying my first 1911 ( I really didn't buy it , my wife did ) there are two kind of people in this world. People who HAVE a 1911 and people who WANT a 1911. You won't be happy with just one ! :pistol: :pistol: :pistol:

Yea the guy i bought it from trashed the factory mags and gave me 2 brand new in box kimber kimpro tac mags which, after reading I found were right up there in reliability with Wilsons. I will probably pick up some Wilson mags if the next range trip proves uneventful. I have changed out the recoil spring from the factory to a Wilson #18 spring and when operating the slide I can feel a HUGE difference. The sig spring was wimpy in comparison. So much so that when I was shooting with the factory spring and had my thumb riding the slide, it would make the slide operate very suggishly. Thats most likely where some of my FTFs and failure to return to battery malfunctions came from. I havent had a chance to get to the range since I swapped the recoil spring and polished the feed ramps but I know that I cant replicate a FTF or failure to return to battery on my own so Im hoping thats a good sign. We shall see.
