My price was all inclusive. Says he's going out of town the next day. I AM OUT OF TOWN.I tell him I'll be back this weekend... he's staying at a buddies and will come to me when I get back. Ask about a VA DL and CHP or voters registration card. Response "I have MD DL and Voters card no problem and my buddy has a FL." WTF is an FL.? CPL?DL?FFL? More importantly, why do I care about your buddy?
I sent him a text saying I'd love to sell it to him for that price-but we'd be transferring through an FFL as it was illegal otherwise, if he was not a VA resident. Being the nice guy I am, I would knock the ffl transfer fee off the sale price if he bought.
Mr hot and heavy never responded again. I hate to put anyone on blast but up yours Doc. Fed or what? Sucks, I needed the money. Not all money is good money though...jerk. F minus. How about no?

He hasn't responded to me since I brought up it being illegal and that we could proceed with the transaction if we transferred through an FTL. I Dont like that he has my number and first name now and it scared the living daylights out of me and got my hopes up and insulted my intelligence. Hate to sound like a whiner but he's a dick in my book. Zero communication following my trying to straighten out some bs. I see all the stellar feedback on here and felt bad badmouthing someone but the whole situation turned sketchy quickly.

I won't keep blabbing on about it, but feel like the too good to be true over payer was using the money and I'm going out of town tomorrow bit to try making me feel under pressure to make the deal, like I was going to miss the sale if I didn't invite him right over.
Then when I tell him I won't be available until 2 or 3 days after his pm, suddenly he's still available, staying at a buddy's house and wanted me to call him as soon as I got back and he'd come to me..
With a black windbreaker and some shiny new bracelets for me...or worse?

Yep - that sounds about right. Same kind of BS happens on eBay and CraigsList all the time.

I don't think you're stupid - this is how most transactions occur - PM then text, email or phone call. You just ran into a guy who either had illegal intentions, was looking to nab someone at VGOF for breaking the law, or was unaware of the law. Whatever the case, you handled it appropriately, and it's done now. Move onto the next guy who wants to buy your piece and stay equally as alert - and don't let someone from Nairobi trick you into cashing a check and sending them $5,000, all the while you get to keep $1,000 for yourself for your trouble.
