Aguila Ammo

Post by sjm »

anybody use any Aguila ammo, i have an H&K MP5 A5. everything i see about this ammo says best with bolt action. but then there are 3 or 4 different 22lr kinds to choose from. the price is good but if they don't work i'd be better off throwing rocks. i have used most major brands and the only one i've had trouble with is the remington thunderbolt.

thanks for any help

I've used Aquila "Interceptor" .22 LR in my Henry AR-7, Sig 1911-22, and a little Taurus PT22 "nose gun"...no problems at all with it feeding, firing, or ejecting. I also shoot a lot of Remington Thunderbolt...and have never had a problem with that either.

I have used the Aquilla Super Extra Subsonic 40gr in my suppressed Buckmark pistol and it cycles fine and has never caused any issue. Also used it in a bolt action Savage MKIIFVSR w/o issue.

Aquilla "Super Colibri" is not good for semi autos, it uses a primer only and no powder. It won't cycle semi autos and has been known to lodge in the barrels.

The SSS 60 grain I have read is made for bolt action, but I have seen 10/22 match barrels made specificall for that round with a different twist rate... if it was available I would like to try some out, haven't seen any in stock anywhere in a while.

I use Aguila 124 grain in 9mm, and have used 230 grain in .45 ACP. Runs fine.
