Armed DHS Guards Protect IRS From Tea Party Protesters

Check out the video on this link. Look at those people in the crowd. I couldn’t imagine a less threatening group of folks. Were they afraid granny was going to ram the IRS office with her walker? That this peaceful demonstration is met by armed force is clearly indicative of either massively oppressive intent or Barney-Fife-type overreaction to perfectly legal and ordinary activity by obviously upright and law-abiding citizens. That it is done with ODrama’s private federal police force buttresses that conclusion, and signals a clear federal intent to intimidate and chill the exercise of free speech. I don’t know which is more scary; that IRS/DHS would engage in this kind of overkill, or that they really thought it was justified.

Well, I have to think that the DHS is loving this. They came out with force, proving they needed all those arms and ammo. And it is so much better that it was a Tea Party gathering. This really seems like what the DHS had in mind all along - defending the government from right-wing extremists. This will go on a status report as a job well done.
