Senate voted to revoke federal housing funds from ACORN!

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/09 ... g-funding/

The Senate voted to cut off ACORN Housing funds following the release of three videotapes that show employees of the activist group advising a "pimp" and "prostitute" on how to break the law.

The amendment, offered by Nebraska Republican Sen. Mike Johanns, passed in a vote of 83 to 7 and prohibits the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now from receiving funds from the current Transportation and Housing and Urban Development appropriations bill. It marks the third time this year Republicans tried to block the organization from federal funding.

The latest vote comes on the heels of the release of hidden-camera videos showing workers in three separate ACORN housing offices apparently helping a couple posing as a pimp and prostitute evade the IRS and apply for an illegal housing loan for a brothel.

ACORN Housing Corporation received $1.6 million to provide housing services to low-income communities in this fiscal year, ending Sept. 30, according to USASpending.gov, a federal government Web site for tracking government grants.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development Grants has given $8.2 million to ACORN in the years between 2003 and 2006, as well as $1.6 million to ACORN affiliates.

It wasn't immediately clear whether the offices shown in the videos had received any of ACORN's federal grant money for housing services.

If you've ever wondered if a small group of people can make a difference in this political mess we're in, there's your answer.

All it took was a couple of citizen journalist to do what the MSM was too scared to do.

I disagree, Jay. Wasnt that they were too scared. I'm sure they are crying this morning that ACORN has finally been exposed. For MSM (other than Fox) to expose them would be against their "principles."

The really bad part about all this is it makes me wonder how many thugs got money through ACORN to conduct illegal activities. Those ACORN people sure sounded to me like they had that kind of conversation many many times before.

Continue to press for an investigation, They need to unravel the whole mess that is ACORN and it's affiliates., THere are still billions in stimulus bucks out there that was earmarked for them.. Let's see if Frank and Pelosi try and defend ACORN this time now that the horse is out of the barn, We should not settle for anything less than the total closing of ACORN , seizure of assets and jail time for the ones that are found to be dirty.

Those 7 nays are no surprise,.especially Burris and Durbin.. Now we all need to press very hard to get Congress , especially the House to investigate this bunch of crooks and take them apart peice by peice; Glenn Beck says he has the worst ACORN video to date that he will show tonight ,,should be good!

Below I have written a letter to send to our Senators and Congressman. Feel free to copy it and send it yourself.. ACORN needs to go ASAP>>>>

Dear Senator XXXXX

I am writing to you today to ask in the strongest possible terms that you sponsor or co-sponsor legislation that will allow a thorough investigation into ACORN and other social organizations that would or have abused monies provided to them by the taxpayers of this country. Just stopping the payments to them is not enough. They need to be investigated thoroughly and if found to be guilty of misuse and fraud, be subject to the severest criminal prosecution and penalties that apply. ACORN’S misuse of our tax money is a serious injustice to every honest taxpaying citizen and is no different than a company embezzling its pension fund. ACORN is an organization that should be dismantled from the top down to the lowest level and never be allowed to start up again.

Sincerely, XXXX XXXXXXXXX

It was great! I;m sure the folks at ACORN are making some serious changes in their nationwide offices,, Let;s press for an investigation on the federal level ... Just cutting off the money and census job isn't enough by a long shot!

Great letter, Spence. This time I'm gonna use yours...

Now is the time to press the attack home. This is a battle and we must be swift, decisive, and merciless if we expect to win. Anything less allows ACORN to regroup and come back to fight another day. As American citizens respecting our Founders, Constitution, and Country - we cannot allow that to happen.

Send those letters !!!!!

That's why I emphasized that ACORN needs to be dismantled and any body that is involved (including politicians) face criminal and jail time if found guilty. We have to watch and see if Pelosi tries to quell any investigation this time or shuts her yap and let's it continue...

So now there are reports that ACORN will appoint an independent investigator to review their "systems and processes." I'm sure it will be an impartial investigation finding nothing wrong with the way ACORN conducts business. And in other news, pigs can now fly. :hysterical:

Yeah I saw that too. I'm sure we can all rest easy that ACORN will find no problems with themselves. Then again, maybe they'll throw us a couple of bones kinda like those little sharp ones you always find on a chicken leg. I will find it hard to believe if the senate does not open an investigation. No doubt congress as a whole will accept any findings produced by ACORN, especially if they hold a press release and announce it on MSNBC. Oh forgot, MSNBC isnt aware of any scandals with ACORN.

You simply cannot make this stuff up. I've already sent VBshooters letter to congress. Please feel free to do the same. We need to keep up the heat or it will quickly fade from view...unless video #6 pops up (snicker). It seems like they have a boat load and intend to release them one at a time until the mighty ACORN topples. I hope so. Enough is enough.

 I recommend we quickly invest in companies that manufacture duct tape. Also stock up on popcorn and beer.
