VNV Nation - Illusion

I know it's hard to tell how mixed up you feel
Hoping what you need is behind every door
Each time you get hurt, I don't want you to change
Because everyone has hopes, you're human after all
The feeling sometimes, wishing you were someone else
Feeling as though you never belong
This feeling is not sadness, this feeling is not joy
I truly understand. Please, don't cry now

Please don't go, I want you to stay
I'm begging you please, please don't leave here
I don't want you to hate;
For all the hurt that you feel,
The world is just illusion, trying to change you

Being like you are
Well this is something else, who would comprehend?
But some that do, lay claim
Divine purpose blesses them
That's not what I believe, and it doesn't matter anyway
A part of your soul ties you to the next world
Or maybe to the last, but I'm still not sure
But what I do know, is to us the world is different
As we are to the world but I guess you would know that

Please don't go, I want you to stay
I'm begging you please, please don't leave here
I don't want you to hate for all the hurt that you feel
The world is just illusion trying to change you
Please don't go, I want you to stay
I'm begging you please, oh please don't leave here
I don't want you to change;
For all the hurt that you feel,
This world is just illusion, always trying to change you

Please don't go, I want you to stay
I'm begging you please, please don't leave here
I don't want you to hate for all the hurt that you feel
The world is just illusion trying to change you
Please don't go, I want you to stay
I'm begging you please, oh please don't leave here

Yes I love Assemblage 23. =)

I love: Front 242, Wolfshiem, Wumpscut, VNV Nation, Assemblage 23, Covenant, NIN, Icon of Coil, some sisters of mercy, one or two throbbing gristle, The velvet underground, Joy Division, Depech Mode, Black tape for a blue girl, Dead can Dance, Faith and the Muse. etc etc.

I like dark ambient music, industrial, and ebm, mostly.

I however, also love: (I guess this is, ambient/dance/orchestral)
E.S. Posthumus-Cartographer, Unearthed
Royksopp - Melody Am, The Understanding

Then I like other areas like:
Shiny Toy Guns
La Rouge
Madonna
old Maria Carrie
Older Michael Jackson
Some country - Hank Williams, Jonny Cash, Willie Nelson, and mostly just the stuff my husband plays
Orchestral Music
Orbital
Bjork

I love to share music with people and It was big part of my growing up. I play the Cello, Oboe and Clarinet.

Sorry that was a long winded response to your question.

p.s. If you could not tell, I am an old Goth/Industrial person. I grew up, met a wonderful man and have two beautiful babies. However, I still love the music, even if I am to tired to go out dancing till 3 in the morning any more. :hysterical:

I will try to keep my nose out of your music collection. =) I have pretty eclectic taste, with a leaning on the darker side. Seems you do to. :friends:

Today i been on a Icon of Coil and Iris kick.

Icon of Coil - Regret
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqvbyrynW0c

Icon of Coil - Dead enough for life (Note: This is classic, from my youth, still makes me dance around the house)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0c8Up91ygg

Iris - Twilight (Note: again another dance club hit, my favorite clubs in SF were Death Guild, Glas Cat, and DNA lounge)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xF_OUncVXjk

Iris - The danger is the shame
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tio0pbL5yY

Strange replies
Falling in from every odd direction
Truth and lies
Come together on the lines
And cut off my connection

I'm receiving final indication
I'm aware my time is simply running out
I'm next in line to see the fountain
Come to rest or enter light

I'm wading out to sea
To love the same as you
Don't say I'm all surrender
Even though you know it's true
The danger is the shame
With things that I can't tame
Danger is the shame

I lie stunned
No one breathing here can fool the sirens
Slowly I
Press my hands into the sky
And slam like an anchor to the sand

Any life that I have run to
Could be ending blindly in a silver light
And if my lies to myself return
Then I'm sure that is no surprise
"Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves."

Iris - Sorry Expert
http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=504 ... ature=fvwp

I could stop the fear and the rage
But it just might save us (save us...)
A little light blurs inside
And I can only watch until it goes out

Every way
We create the illusion
To follow out like a star on the heavens
But all of my journeys leave me the same

(Chorus):
I'm just a sorrow expert now
The more I love the more I drown
And the saddest part is I love what's ours
And that's when I give more

Calling us up from the grave
I will come creeping out like a serpent
What I restrain to be safe
Is overturning

You can take me away
Till I'm dying to start again
When the faith's gone away
Make believe that it's fine again

(Chorus X 4)
"Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves."

Rush - Cygnus X-1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkIIlkyZ328

Book One --- The Voyage
Prologue

In the constellation of Cygnus
There lurks a mysterious, invisible force
The Black Hole
Of Cygnus X-1

Six Stars of the Northern Cross
In mourning for their sister's loss
In a final flash of glory
Nevermore to grace the night...

1

Invisible
To telescopic eye
Infinity
The star that would not die

All who dare
To cross her course
Are swallowed by
A fearsome force

Through the void
To be destroyed
Or is there something more?
Atomized --- at the core
Or through the Astral Door ---
To soar...

2

I set a course just east of Lyra
And northwest of Pegasus
Flew into the light of Deneb
Sailed across the Milky Way

On my ship, the 'Rocinante'
Wheeling through the galaxies,
Headed for the heart of Cygnus
Headlong into mystery

The x-ray is her siren song
My ship cannot resist her long
Nearer to my deadly goal
Until the Black Hole ---
Gains control...

3

Spinning, whirling,
Still descending
Like a spiral sea,
Unending

Sound and fury
Drowns my heart
Every nerve
Is torn apart....

Wolfshiem - The Sparrow And the Nightingales

I love love love this song!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1q7s5fdgbng

How long have you been free
In this world of hate and greed
Is it black or is it white
Let's find another compromise
And our future standing still
We're dancing in the spotlights
Where's the leader who leads me
I'm still waiting
Leaving home

RFRAIN:
And god is on your side
Dividing sparrows from the Nightingales
Watching all the time
Dividing water from the burning fire.....
Inside

Leave a light on in the night for me
That I can find you
Remember when we both were young
and reckless and so curious
Now you're hiding from your child...
A new day's dawning
Remember that you felt alife sometimes

REFRAIN:
And god is on your side
Dividing cruelty from tenderness
Watching all the time
Dividing fiction from reality

Move in circles walk on lines
No humans being in sight
Calm the winds and calm the seas
Let's try another kind of peace
Who fights this holy civil war
A million man in uniform
Wo ist der Führer, der mich führt
Ich warte immer noch
Leaving home

REFRAIN:
And god is on your side
Dividing presence from the history
Watching all the time
Dividing deaf men from the listening ones

Leave a light on in the night for me
That I can find you
Remember when we both were young
and reckless and so curious
Now you're hiding from your child...
A new day's dawning
Remember that you felt alife sometimes

REFRAIN:
And god is on your side
Dividing cruelty from tenderness
Watching all the time
Dividing fiction from reality

Move in circles walk on lines
No humans being in sight
Calm the winds and calm the seas
Let's try another kind of peace
Who fights this holy civil war
A million man in uniform
Wo ist der Führer, der mich führt
Ich warte immer noch
Leaving home

REFRAIN:
And god is on your side
Dividing presence from the history
Watching all the time
Dividing deaf men from the listening ones

Leave a light on in the night for me
That I can find you
Remember when we both were young
and reckless and so curious
Now you're hiding from your child...
A new day's dawning
Remember that you felt alife sometimes

REFRAIN:
And god is on your side
Dividing soldiers from the fisherman
Watching all the time
Dividing warships from the ferryboats

Ferryboats...

Apoptygma Bezerk - Kathy's Song (VNV Nation- Remix)

This is one of the first songs I ever shared with my husband, he says it reminds him of me.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5-9vIZyvTw

In the beginning
God created the heaven and the earth.
And the earth was without form and void.
And darkness was upon the face of the deep.
And God said: 'Let there be light'
And there was light.
And God saw the light that it was good.
And God divided the light from the darkness.
And God called the light day, and the darkness he called night.
And God saw everything that he had made, and behold... it was good.
And God created man.
And man created machine,
And machine,
Machine created music.
And machine saw everything it had made and said: 'Behold'

Oh my love, it's time
You know how it feels
You read between the lines
You know me better than I do
I lost again, my friend
You know I'm not a saint
You knew it all this time
Still you've been waiting for me here...

Oh my love, it's time
You know how it feels
You read between the lines
And know me better than I do
I'm lost again my friend
You know I'm not a saint
You've known it all this time
Still you've been waiting for me here...

And machine saw everything it had made and said: 'Behold'

Come lie next to me
Know why, you and me are one
Come lie next to me
No lies, you and me are one

(Please) Come lie next to me
Know why, you and me are one
Come lie next to me
No lies, you and me are one...

Come lie next to me
Know why, you and me are one
Come lie next to me
No lies, you and me are one

(You know I'm not a saint...)

You know I'm not a saint...
You know I'm not a saint...

And on the seventh day, the Machine pressed stop...
"Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves."

Rush - Cygnus X-1 Book II: Hemispheres

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAZXGjoQTzw

I. Prelude
When our weary world was young
The struggle of the ancients first began.
The gods of Love and Reason
Sought alone to rule the fate of Man.

They battled through the ages,
But still neither force would yield.
The people were divided,
Every soul a battlefield.

II. Apollo: Bringer of Wisdom
"I bring truth and understanding,
I bring wit and wisdom fair,
Precious gifts beyond compare.
We can build a world of wonder,
I can make you all aware.
I will find you food and shelter,
Show you fire to keep you warm
Through the endless winter storm.
You can live in grace and comfort
In the world that you transform."

The people were delighted
Coming forth to claim their prize
They ran to build their cities
And converse among the wise.
But one day the streets fell silent,
Yet they knew not what was wrong.
The urge to build these fine things
Seemed not to be so strong.
The wise men were consulted,
And the Bridge of Death was crossed
In quest of Dionysus,
To find out what they had lost.

III. Dionysus: Bringer of Love
"I bring love to give you solace
In the darkness of the night,
In the Heart's eternal light.
You need only trust your feelings;
Only love can steer you right.
I bring laughter, I bring music,
I bring joy and I bring tears.
I will soothe your primal fears.
Throw off those chains of reason
And your prison disappears."

The cities were abandoned,
And the forests echoed song.
They danced and lived as brothers;
They knew love could not be wrong.
Food and wine they had aplenty
And they slept beneath the stars.
The people were contented
And the Gods watched from afar.
But the winter fell upon them
And it caught them unprepared,
Bringing wolves and cold starvation,
And the hearts of men despaired.

IV. Armageddon: The Battle of Heart and Mind
The Universe divided
As the Heart and Mind collided,
With the people left unguided
For so many troubled years.
In a cloud of doubts and fears,
Their world was torn asunder into hollow Hemispheres.

Some fought themselves, some fought each other.
Most just followed one another,
Lost and aimless like their brothers,
For their hearts were so unclear,
And the truth could not appear.
Their spirits were divided into blinded Hemispheres.

Some who did not fight
Brought tales of old to light.
My Rocinante sailed by night
On her final flight.
To the heart of Cygnus' fearsome force
We set our course.
Spiralled through that timeless space
To this immortal place.

V. Cygnus: Bringer of Balance
I have memory and awareness,
But I have no shape or form.
As a disembodied spirit,
I am dead and yet unborn.
I have passed into Olympus
As was told in tales of old,
To the city of Immortals,
Marble white and purest gold.

I see the gods in battle rage on high,
Thunderbolts across the sky.
I cannot move, I cannot hide,
I feel a silent scream begin inside.

Then all at once the chaos ceased.
A stillness fell, a sudden peace.
The warriors felt my silent cry
And stayed their struggle, mystified.

Apollo was astonished;
Dionysus thought me mad.
But they heard my story further,
And they wondered, and were sad.

Looking down from Olympus
On a world of doubt and fear,
Its surface splintered
Into sorry Hemispheres.

They sat a while in silence,
Then they turned at last to me.
"We will call you Cygnus,
The god of Balance you shall be."

VI. The Sphere: A Kind of Dream
We can walk our road together
If our goals are all the same.
We can run alone and free
If we pursue a different aim.
Let the truth of love be lighted,
Let the love of truth shine clear.
Sensibility, armed with sense and liberty,
With the Heart and Mind united in a single perfect Sphere.

I'm listening to Samuel Barber's adagio for strings. Not really a classical music geek, but... this is my fav song. Relax & Enjoy!
