I wish it were a different manufacturer. Other than the CMP milsurp, I have found Remington .22LR to be of terrible quality with at least 10% misfires, loose bullets, etc.

I think all ammunition manufacturers should be expanding their production. I don't know how it is where y'all are, but where I am if you want ammo you have to show up and buy it off the truck.

Common sense tells us there are some good reasons that are holding back companies from expanding capacity to manufacture ammunition, but it all boils down to uncertainty.

(1) An investment in expanded capacity will take decades to pay off. Few companies will take the risk that the increased demand will last long enough to allow them to sell enough ammo to recover their investment and return a profit. There might be a ban on private ownership, or restrictions on how much ammunition people can purchase and/or have in their possession. Or perhaps the gun-grabbing scare will blow over altogether and the demand created by it will dissipate. A lot could happen that would render their new capacity useless; or at least unprofitable.
(2) It takes time to build buildings, order machinery, train new workers, etc. There is a risk that by the time all that time has passed, the excess demand will have vanished.
(3) There is also the uncertain economic climate. If the economy gets bad enough, inflation could drive up wages and the cost of raw materials and people won’t have disposable income to buy weapons and ammunition.
(4) There is also the very real possibility that an Obama administration that likes to punish people they disapprove of with punitive taxes and regulations and that very obviously does not approve of private ownership of guns and ammo will introduce measures by statute or administrative action that will make it impossible to realize a return on any new investment.
(5) The Affordable Care Act, or “Obamacare”, promises mandated provision of healthcare to employees at rates now expected to QUADRUPLE. There is also the looming threat of heavy fines and taxes attached to having an employee under the ACA. Any employer in his right mind is trying to CUT employment; not increase it.

Many of these factors are also contributing to the general reluctance of all businesses to expand and hire and motivate companies to export jobs overseas. Firearms and ammunition makers are just more concerned because they are particularly disapproved of by Big Brother.

Welcome to Obama’s fundamentally changed USA. You ain’t seen nothing yet.

My M&P .22 loves Remington golden bullets. I had a bucket of 1200-1400 of them and had only one FTE out of the 400 or so I have shot. Quite good for bulk rimfire in my opinion.

I think this has been said a lot in these discussions but I can't wait until the expansion, increased productivity and throughput of the manufacturing lines and maybe even entirely new manufacturers results in an ammo surplus. Those will be happy days.

I like to see any business expand...Means growth , hiring and Capitalism at it's finest. I do wish all ammo manufacturers could and would increase ammo production. I also would like to see supply catch up and maybe even exceede demand. I would bet that if that does happen we will see more hoarding of ammo than ever before.
I have for many years bought ammo at any and every opportunity...everybody always ask why I buy so much...NOW THEY KNOW !
