Second grader suspended for holding pencil like gun
From half-eaten Pop-Tarts to pencils. The zero-tolerance PC stupidity marches on.

Re: Second grader suspended for holding pencil like gun
So I guess the bottom line is that it is a serious offense to even THINK about a gun in school. When will it become a firing offense for the teacher to discuss the Civil War or the Kennedy assassination?
I must be a living miracle. When I was a kid, a major amusement when it was raining at recess was to sit and draw pictures of Civil War battles; complete with guns, swords, cannons, and lots of blood and dead soldiers. Wasn't unknown for the teach to look over our shoulders and inject a little history into the deal by telling us about an actual battle. And yet I've never yet committed even one murder; much less a mass murder. Go figure.
When did the schools get taken over by such silly bastards?

The school can't identify the specific policy that was violated since the pencil is clearly not a firearm, nor can be confused with a firearm as defined by their own policy/state law and no assault because the other student was not frightened. The teacher and principal are accused of bullying in violation of their own policy because they "criticized", "told lies", and "excluded on purpose". Alas, the bullying form and parent handbook are both 404'd.

I'm not sure I see what policy was violated with "pointing a pencil" and saying "pew pew pew".

At about the same time students (boys) are being medicated because they're animated which is about the same time recess became a kind-of reward rather than educational necessity to blow off steam which is about the same time competitive games (like kickball, basketball, football) were being forced out because a team loses which is about the same time school stopped teaching (educating?) and became glorified baby sitters for training to pass standardized exams which is about the same time....dorminWS wrote:When did the schools get taken over by such silly bastards?

Call them and report the teacher and principal for bullying.GeneFrenkle wrote:<CarnacHat>

I suggest we all pitch in and buy a new pen for every kid in that school.

If the seller claims it is a real .50 cal. bullet, the kids would all be expelled for bringing ammunition to school...or was that your intent?

Obviously it ain't a REAL .50BMG, because it has a Bic refill in it instead of powder and a bullet. And I'm too cheap to shell out $17 a kid (or whatever) anyway. My intent was actually just to make a smartassed remark. But it would be nice to rub their PC noses in a little reality by doing something like that.

Well...if every student got a couple of days off, we could do without paying all school personnel for those few days.
Seriously, I remember a child being suspended for a pistol charm on her bracelet.

Re: Second grader suspended for holding pencil like gun
I remember kids in my high school (circa 1999) used to pass around a well-worn copy of the Anarchists Cookbook, for which we'd have been institutionalized nowadays. The teachers thought it was "cool but stupid" and that was it.

What is scary about this story is the fact this is not from a Communist state such as California or New York. This is in our back yard. How terrifying.

This is why even in a conservative state like VA I homeschool my kids. If the teachers are going to do this nonsense they are too stupid to teach my kids.

I am right there with you. Kids are going to be kids, and these morons that are supposed to be teaching them are so scared of everything even their shadows... its retarded.
I am surprised they have not outlawed Nerf guns, dart guns, squirt guns, etc. I am surprised they have not taken them off the shelf yet at toy stores.

I think back to when I was in JROTC in high school (in MD of all places!) and used to walk home with a demilled 1903 Springfield slung over my shoulder. I also remember a teacher bringing his pistol into class and showing us how to field strip it. We've come a long way since then, but not in a good direction.

When I was in high school, we had a shooting team. WTF is going on? This is ridiculous.
