XDM, M&P 9C, triggers & night sights mini-review

Post by Mindflayer »

I had Springfield custom put Trijicon HD sights on my XDM 9 Compact, along with a trigger upgrade a while back. The trigger is now very sweet, and the sights very easy to pick up. This firearm has the orange front sight.

I more recently picked up an M&P 9C, and that has become my usual EDC. The trigger has not nearly as crisp as the XDM, so I self-installed the Apex DCAEK trigger kit. I used the Apex duty spring, which means a heavier and still slightly "mushy" feel. Compared to the XDM or using the stock spring (which with the kit reduces pull to ~4#), it's still not as crisp. It's also not as crisp a reset as my Shield. That all said, it shoots well. I had the Trijicon HD sights with the yellow front installed.

I find the yellow sight much easier to pick out in dim light. They are about equal in the daylight. Against a very brightly lit background, though, the orange ones are easier to pick out. In the dark, of course, they just glow green.
