Mosin - Purchase Now Online or Wait For Gun Show?

Post by ShotgunBlast »

I see Bud's has the Mosin back in stock and people have been giving it good reviews. At $130 that's probably more than what most of you paid for one, but it's good to see them back in stock under $200 now that the panic is starting to subside. Anyways, I figure I could purchase one at that price and was weighing my options. I know a lot of people say Dark Sun usually has a ton of Mosins at the gun shows to choose from, but I haven't been to one since the panic broke out so I'm not sure of their selection or price lately.

I was thinking about either paying the $130 to Bud's plus transfer fee to my FFL or the $10 for the Richmond gun show in May and hope for a reasonable price for something that's not junk. What do you think?

It's always good if you can see the gun and check it over before you purchase it but at 130 bucks you can't make much of a mistake. Just ask Bud's if all the numbers match. I don't think Bud's wants the reputation of selling crap so go for it.

i bought my recent sig from dark sun at the last richmond show and saw them again up here in the dc show and i honestly dont remember seeing any nagants this time. while they did have them at the richmond show, i believe i remember seeing only a few at $140.
my friend just got one of the nagants from buds last week actually, and it is great condition. the only thing that sucks is having to get all the cosmoline off

I haven't seen very many Mosins at recent shows, and the ones I have seen have not been particularly good deals. I have bought several online from J&G, and have had no problems whatsoever. I think J&G's current prices are a bit high, though -- closer to $200.

The drawback to purchasing online is they usually come with anti corrosive materials to keep it from rusting since they are old and have been in storage for years. It takes some work getting it all off but for $130 it's worth it.
Buying at a gun show it will be clean but I haven't seen any deals that seemed worth it.
