Tell me agin that the Repub's are just as bad as the Dem's
Tell me agin that the Repub's are just as bad as the Dem's
I admit under full disclosure I have not fully vetted this, but worthy of a read:
Oh and of course our Senator, well not by my vote, but any way, spineless Warner made the list.
Subject: What A Close Call!......
Over the weekend, we came just four votes away from our United States Senate agreeing to give our Constitutional rights over to the United Nations. In a 53-46 vote, the senate narrowly passed a measure that willstop the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.
The Statement of Purpose from the bill read:
To uphold Second Amendment rights and prevent the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.
The U.N. Small Arms Treaty, which has been championed by the Obama Administration and all Liberal Democrats, would have effectively placed a global ban on the import and export of small firearms. The ban would have affected all private gun owners in the U.S., and had language that would have implemented an international gun registry on all private guns and ammo. It would effectively negated our "Right to keep and bear arms!"
Astonishingly, 46 of our United States Senators, 45 Democrat, 1 Independent, were willing to give away our Constitutional rights to non-elected officials controlled by foreign power controlled non-elected officials.
Here are the 46 senators who voted to give our rights to the U.N. How about that, not one (R), (except for the R's in Oregon and Rhode Island) in the list.

Baucus (D-MT)

Re: Tell me agin that the Repub's are just as bad as the Dem's
There are progressives in both parties. Progressive republicans and democrats are just two sides of the same coin.
Maybe we should just call them what they are. Whores.

Re: Tell me agin that the Repub's are just as bad as the Dem's

This is a letter that Warner sent me in response to a letter I wrote him. He clearly states that he is a strong supporter of the second amendment. Too bad his vote doesn't reflect that. There goes his A rating he claims the NRA gave him.
What a tool. Same with Kaine.....
I had a SCAR 17 and 16. I also had a bunch of Glocks and a couple H&K pistols. Oh and a DDM4, but I sold everything when our government told me these dangerous tools can actually hurt someone. Apparently they grow legs and go on killing sprees.
Re: Tell me agin that the Repub's are just as bad as the Dem's
Democrats mostly, Liberals want to take my guns.
Republican mostly, Conservatives want to take away a womans rights.
Libertarian says, women have a right to choose and keep your guns.
Then there are the financial conservatives vs. the liberal socialists, but that is for when I have more time to write.
Needless to say, I find myself more of a libertarian now days.

I find plenty of fault with the GOP, but I see no evidence of them taking rights away from women specifically. Please elaborate, RW.

SHMIV, RW is talking about their right to choose murder over life. The problem is that abortion is no different than premeditated murder, IMO. The abortion advocates say it is between a woman and her doctor. Why is a human life valued any differently just because it is in the womb rather than outside the womb? But, we're way off topic here!
To answer the OP, they are just as bad.

Yes, they are just as bad. I'm glad I found the Libertarian party. For years I've felt torn because I like some positions Dems have and some positions that Repubs have, but now I have a party that I line up with 99% of the time.

@ Swampman: I suspected that, or the workplace thing, or both. But, I wanted to remain open to the idea that I missed something.
As to the various partys, the one thing that I am not, is a Democrat. I tend to be predominately a Conservative, with Libertarian leanings. I watched a short presentation on the difference between conservatism and libertarianism once; I wish that I could remember the guy that did it. It was very nicely done. I think that it was posted in this forum, a while back.

Glenn Beck did a program on this a few years back which consisted of a self administered questionnaire which depending on how you felt and believed on a variety of different topics would determine your political leaning.SHMIV wrote:@ Swampman: I suspected that, or the workplace thing, or both. No, it wasn't Glenn Beck, though that one sounds familiar. Come to think of it, maybe it was Bill Whittle.

@SHMIV - try this on for size.

In 1975 I had just graduated HS, and this was my first real introduction to conservatism. I haven't looked back.

Yes, I am talking abortion and I don't want to have a debate in this thread, but.....Swampman wrote:SHMIV, RW is talking about their right to choose murder over life. To answer the OP, they are just as bad.
1. I don't like the idea of abortion. IMHO, Use protection and don't make love to anyone you don't want to be committed to for the next 18 years.
2. I don't like the idea of abortion being made illegal just like I don't like gun control, alcohol.... being made illegal. When you push it underground, the criminals take over. Instead of first trimester abortions, it now becomes third trimester abortions where they kill a viable baby after it is born. (And yes, I know a legal doctor did it and he will go to jail for this.)
3. I studied the science in school. If you take the religion out of the equation, it is very hard to make a case that a first trimester embryo is a baby. I should not legislate my religions views on others because I would not want to live under other people's religious views.

Its just the democratic republican party nowadays. One of the first political parties. They are at it again.
just clinging to my guns and religion. just leave this graybeard country boy alone.
Re: Tell me agin that the Repub's are just as bad as the Dem's
Reverenddel has it nailed. I hate abortion, but the woman, docs, etc. have to deal with God, not me. I would advise against it if asked and understand I can't cast the fist stone.

Re: Tell me agin that the Repub's are just as bad as the Dem's
I truly believe what we need to do to fix many of the problems in congress is term limits. Then maybe they will do their job(they are elected to represent use) instead of working to keep their job. It reminds me of what my grandfather told me back in early 70’s when I was able to vote for first time. “ I vote for no incumbent give another crook a chance.”
Re: Tell me agin that the Repub's are just as bad as the Dem's
This is exactly what the country needs. We have them for the Pres, Governors, ect, why are Senators and Congress exempted? The problem is they would never pass anything that would end their personal rein of pocket lining, stealing, and trampling on our rights.graybeard321 wrote:I truly believe what we need to do to fix many of the problems in congress is term limits.
