Grassley/Cruz (unveiled this morning) failed 52-48
Re: CSPAN LIVE Vote for Manchin/Toomey Amendment to S.649
What's messed up is SAF backed it, made it sound like we were gaining a lot and loosing essentially nothing, but VCDL disagreed. I didn't read the actual text of it myself but with that said, glad it got killed

Reid voted no as a procedural move allowing it's reintroduction at a later date. It is not dead.

Not only does Feinstein not understand the phrase "shall not be infringed", she apparently doesn't understand the phrase "the senator's time is up." Everything about her disgusts me. Voting on the AWB amendment now.

Obama on TV at 5:30 to talk about today's gun control vote. Expected to parade out the families of Newtown again to stand behind him. You wanted your vote Mr. President and you got it. Time to move on.

Feinstein amendment: 40Y - 60N, massively not agreed to.
We all know about this monstrosity.
And she was complaining about the need for 60 votes vs a simple majority. 11 votes shy of the lower threshold. Good!
Burr amendment up next.

I just watched Shumer of NY argue that anybody who couldn’t handle his finances was at least partially incompetent and that members should vote nay on the Burr Amendment because folks who couldn’t handle their finances mostly should be put on the NICS list with no judicial oversight and that the few who might have gotten a raw deal should get some relief in another form.
I’d say, based upon the spending and budgetary malpractice in the entire Congress and the senate in particular, every damn body in the Congress should go on the NICS list.

Gun-crazy? Me? I'd say the gun-crazy ones are the ones that don’t HAVE one.
