As I relay this whole thing to my GF, she considers the available info, then asks, incredulously.... "and they want to take our guns?!"

This happened in my brothers area. He's fine, but was in the process of tracking down his friends when I talked to him. I hope that they're ok.

The Boston Marathon honored the victims of the Newtown, Conn., shooting with a special mile marker in Monday's race.

Boston Athletic Association president Joanne Flaminio previously said there was "special significance" to the fact that the race is 26.2 miles long and 26 people died at Sandy Hook Elementary school.

Ummm.. All marathons are 26.2 miles long. No preordained relationahip or significnce. Hmmm....it was held on tax day, both are grueling experiences? Liberals trying to stretch and find some cutsy relationship or significance.

THEKINETIC has the right idea. We need a bomb ban. It just proves a nut will always find a weapon of some kind.

Prayers to those impacted by this insanity.

I am just now seeing this. I was unaware. If I don't look online and or here, I miss the news and today was a internet light day for me. I don't watch it on tv cause the tv just pisses me off. So it is mostly for games, movies, and childrens cartoons. My heart goes out to the families of the victims. Those that died and those that are hurt/injured. Oh my God...

I do think these stupid things are ramping up. But for what, to what end. To make us all hysterical.

So that whom ever is griping our society can clench harder for our own good, or are we just the victims of some nut case that wanted to hurt people, and it is conincidental. I think not. Is it a ploy to instill stricter laws, and restrictions? I would not put it past whom ever it is. I will pray for those that were killed and injured. I will pray we find whom ever did this. I will pray that we get down to the bottom of this and if there is a larger organization behind that mad man/woman then I hope we find them and throw them all into a cell and throw away the key.

Shut down marathons. It's already full of wackos that want to run that far anyway. And you know what they say, Crazy attracts Crazy...

Once you get rid of marathons and centers of learning, there won't be anywhere left for the crazies to go...except maybe the food court. So then, we should ban malls too, out of general principle.

In all seriousness, my condolences to all affected by the blasts. Waiting patiently for FACTS...

At least 3 confirmed fatalities. Over 100 people injured.

The "blast" at the Library.... they are actually thinking it was likely an unrelated mechanical fire in one of the new wings of the JFK Library. They are unsure of any important docs are destroyed or not.

Last year was my first and now will be my last time spectating live at the Boston Marathon.

So far, I personally don't know anyone that's been injured. But I heard reports of someone's friend's mom losing both legs in the explosion :-/

I work north of Boston and live south of Boston. As I left work, it happened. Luckily, I was able to get through and out of the city. I drive my friend home who would have likely been stranded or would have difficulty getting home due to some of the train stations/lines being closed or shut down.

It is also said that they shut off cell service in Boston to try to prevent them from triggering any other explosive devices.

Police took a 20-year-old Saudi national into custody near the scene of yesterday’s horrific Boston Marathon bomb attack, law-enforcement sources told The Post.

......According to a report by CBS News, the man was initially tackled by a bystander while running from the scene of the explosions.

The bystander told police he grabbed the Saudi because he thought he was acting suspiciously.
And the DHS is giving the Saudis special passport privileges because why??? :coffee:

It is a terrible, terrible thing. But I’m already experiencing media overload from the constant yammering of the media talking heads trying to wring ratings out of the blood, gore and tragedy for hours on end without having or imparting a shred of new, meaningful or informative data.

I saw on Fox News where DHS had a huge truck/command center with sat dishes, etc. set up for the Boston Marathon. I think they meant it was there in advance of the race. Lot of good it did, huh? Apparently, the bomb(s) were in trash cans, which I some commentator said is the FIRST thing NYC gets rid of for the big New Year's bash in Times Square. Is this evidence of incompetence, or just that terrorist acts are impossible to completely avoid? There's also been some speculation on the cable news that there was a warning or that Boston authorities had some reason to expect an incident. Who the hell knows?

I know one thing: I'm already tired of all the politicians like the Governor of Mass, the Mayor of Boston, etc. holding press conferences so they can utter platitudes, pander to their electorate and say absolutely NOTHING informative. Just left the TV in disgust and the Mass CONGRESSPEOPLE were all lined up for the cameras! They can't do anything but get in the way, use of police resources for their own security, and soak up photo ops.

If B.H.O. had any B.A.L.L.S., he'd get on TV and tell them to quit being Rudy Giuliani wannabes and get their publicity-seeking asses out of the way of the law enforcement folks who might be actually able to DO something. Of course, if a frog had wings, he wouldn’t bump his ass agin’ the ground, would he? And it would be nice if all the Congresspeople would go back to D.C. and try actually doing their jobs - - - no, wait, - - - on second thought, we're better off with them NOT in D.C., I guess.

Amen dormis!

This looks like an Terrorist attack Islamic style. Random place with lots of people the purpose of which was to kill people.

I get tired of the left leaning talking heads not using their heads....if right wing terrorism existed (which it really doesn't despite big sis' dearest wishes) the would target the IRS or a federal office, or a politician they don't like not runners and their families.

I do not blame DHS it is darn hard to catch these things. Even the Israelis have to simply clean up the mess and weep with those who weep from time to time and they have a much smaller country to defend.

How can you NOT blame DHS?

Saudi Arabia is known as one of the hottest terrorist nations in the world. Most of the 9-11 attackers were Saudis. And yet the DHS is giving them passport privileges that countries like France don't even have.

Something as simple as blocking Saudi visas would have possibly prevented this attack. The DHS has plenty to be blamed for.
