Took Joe's Advice Today !

Post by Snakester »

Well, Joe said "Buy a Shot Gun"....And since I already have my Quota of Double Barrels and Bass Pro just happened to have a Remington 870 Express with full length Mag. Tube and ALL BLACK. Had to bring it home with me ! Going to test it out tomorrow , run some 00 Buck and some #6 Bird Shot. I have been looking at The Partner Pump and Maverick 88 but decided on The Remington. It was more $$$ but My other Remington's have never let me down.
I think everybody should take Joe's advice !!! :BFG:

With the Pardner Pump there is no reason a household cannot afford a shotgun.

Can't go wrong with your Remington!

Oh... THAT... advice!

For a minute there, I was thinking you got arrested for negligent discharge for shooting through your door or firing two blasts into the air from your porch!

Had to go shooting this morning with the New 870 Tactical. We also had 2 Maverick 88's and 2 Partner Pump's and a Mossberg 500. I lost count on how many rds. we shot. 3 of us probably shot about 125 rds. each. We shot everything from 3" Buck to field loads and even a few Slugs.
FIELD REPORT: Maverick 88....Anybody who has one and doesn't love it must need to take it out and shoot it MORE ! My buddy Matt has one he bought 2 yrs . ago for $189.00 and has about $400. worth of accessories on it. Great Gun !!!
Partner Pump...Those Chinese need to quit making everything else and make nothing but Partner Pumps. I saw 2 in action today and 2 Grown Men looking like 2 Little Boy's doing something they knew they should not have been doing.
Mossberg 500...With a Stand Off Barrel ( I think,,,Looked like a meat tenderizer ) on the end of the Muzzle. What a Cannon. I Think it shot the tightest pattern of All..Also the most expensive of all.
Remington Tactical...Had to be the Lightest of the 4 and also the loudest of all. Really fun to shoot from the hip. With the 18" barrel will handle great if I ever have to shoot it INDOORS !
I shot some High Brass 6's and several Turkey Load 4's , nice tight patterns with both.

Too Bad "Joe" wasn't with US !

I will tell you Tanya, There is nothing I can think of to say bad about The 88. Preforms as good as any I've seen. Loads smooth and ejects every time. I shot one today that was bare bones...no frills and one that had every option available. I can see that you will get years of use out of it. I wouldn't put too many accessories on it because it will get pretty heavy and does make it a little hard to handle.

I know right? I was so pleasantly surprised. I really have no intention of putting a lot on it. Just a sling, new butt stock and husband was talking about a light, so that if we need it in the middle of the night, but that is low on the list. Butt and sling first. I am so happy you had a good time.

I don't know about a light for night use. I have two problems with that:

1. When you wake up in the middle of the night, your night vision is as good as it gets.

2. The only light I want to give away my position to an intruder is the light from the muzzle flash.

We would love to have you join us anytime. I can usually count on Matt most of the time. He lives on 16 acres and we built a 75 yard range that we shoot ,22's and .17 HMR. We have a Farm in Sussex County that we shoot at most of the time. It's 1600 acres and VERY Private. Now that the Owner's son has taken over most of the Farming Operations , I'm kinda feeling that our day's there are getting short.
We were talking today about having a Meet and Greet somewhere and have a Skeet Shoot and Cook Out , maybe in June. We will get something planned and I will let you know !
Do you still have the Tula .223 ? I would be interested in trading some Ammo ....I know I have something that You Shoot. I traded a Guy in Chester , Saturday 2 boxes Tula 9 mm for 6 Boxes of Tula .223 . He lives on Chalkley Rd. about 1000' from Walmart on Rt. 10. He goes there 6 times every day. Let me know if interested !

I started installing replacement windows this morning for a New Customer of mine. It didn't take long for Bill to comment on my NRA T-shirt. Of course we started talking Guns and Home Defense. He told me he hasn't fired a gun in 20 yrs. He had been looking at a hand gun but felt more comfortable with a Small Caliber Shot Gun. He kept asking questions and even started taking notes. I finally told him if I had only one gun and it was for HOME DEFENSE I would buy a Shot Gun. I told him about my newest 870 Pump and why I chose it and I could tell he was a little confused . He was trying to process a lot of information. The last thing he said this afternoon was when his wife got home they were going shopping. Hopefully he will have something for Show and Tell tomorrow. I told him about VGOF and he needs to join , ask ?'s and learn....AND DONATE.

Bill also took Joe's advice. Bill and his wife, Jane went to Dick's and purchased a Maverick 88 - 12ga. and a Remngton 870 Youth 20 ga. Jane said the youth model fit her better than full size shot gun. Her being only 5' tall and about 100 lbs. I think maybe a smart choice. They also bought a Gun Safe and some shells and joined the NRA. Jane's parents live in Amelia so they have a place to Shoot. It's great to see somebody else jump in with both feet !!!
