Eligibility? Is this a Quantico Tactical eligibility requirement? They only *want* to sell these to LE/Military/First Responders? I don't get it. Why can't I buy one?

No it is S&W requirement as they discount them for Military / LE, and only send so many of them to each store.

Here is what they say on thier site
Quantico Tactical is a Licensed Federal Firearms Licensee. We stock a large variety of handguns, rifles and shotguns at each of our locations and sell weapons to all individuals. Because we are LE distributors for many of our companies, if you are law enforcement, private security of military (active, reserve and retired), we can offer you even better pricing!
As I am retired Military I was able to get the S&W M&P 15-22 for $355 from them on a sale like this.

Its simply a military/LEO discount which is a nice price drop but usually comes with regs. stating you can never sell or give away that weapon for as long as you live. I am an LEO and just bought a AR15 from windahm weaponry for 715 under the LE discount but that rifle is permanently registered to me  . This prevents people from buying the rifles under there discount and flipping them to the public.

I think there's some too like Colt where you can buy shorter barrels that a regular Joe can't right? I need to look more into these platforms, I've got barely any in knowledge here too.

While I appreciate the opportunity to exercise this discount, the permanent registration thing is a bit discouraging. Couple that with tax, FFL fees and shipping, then you start approaching gunbroker pricing, and it's less attractive.

That said, I do appreciate Quantico Tactical offering this.

Glock runs a similar program. It's called blue label.

There is no registration for either. So long as you aren't buying several at a time or buying them in a manner that would suggest you are reselling them they don't care what you do with it.

Gun manufacturers know using the term registration doesn't sit well with gun owners.

Also, buying a rifle with a barrel shorter than 16 inches is between you and the NFA. Youll need a tax stamp. On personal ownership that is.

If your dept or military company wants some SBRs, then the unit higher echelon will have to make the request. The rifles will never go home with you though.
I had a SCAR 17 and 16. I also had a bunch of Glocks and a couple H&K pistols. Oh and a DDM4, but I sold everything when our government told me these dangerous tools can actually hurt someone. Apparently they grow legs and go on killing sprees.

Yeah, I went into this store with the intention of buying a S&W pistol the other day, and they wouldn't sell it to me because I don't meet the LE/MIL requirement. Long story short, a regular customer can not buy a Smith and Wesson firearm from Quantico Tactical, at all. I'm not sure if this is a temporary thing or not, but it was a bit disappointing to be turned away from a sale when I had cash in hand.

Was it because all they sell is LE/MIL and you don't qualify, or is it that, even if you are LE/MIL, they only sell to authorized purchasing agents?

No, I don't qualify as I'm not LE or EMS or retired MIL. Another guy was there with his military ID and was buying a M&P pistol.

Yes I do agree that the registration thing is a bummer, but in total I paid 745 and that included the weapon, FFL, taxes, and some ammo I bought from the shop. So it is great for LE/Military looking to purchase but just be aware of the registration regulations. Every company does it differently
