Gun Ranges in NOVA

Post by heathsrow »

Can anyone recommend a good Gun Range in NOVA where I can go shot my AR? Preferably around the Gainesville/Haymarket Area. Just moved to the area and need to find a new place to shoot.

Thanks.

The NRA range at NRA HQ in Fairfax is nice and indoors.

Blue Ridge Arsenal in Chantily.....meh

Clark Brothers to the west. Outdoor range but i think you have to buy their ammo. Never been.

Yes you must buy Clarke Brothers ' ammo to shoot at their range.

Are you willing to drive to a lil town in West Virginia called Rippon? Hiway 340, about 25 miles northwest of Leesburg. Shoot whatever you want, and they have a 400 yard outdoor range!

It's called 340 Defense. I'll be going there quite often myself soon as the weather warms up. I just bought in to their UNLIMITED range use one year membership - shoot from sun up to sundown all day long if you have the ammo to last that long! For a little more money, up to three famly members get the same deal - a whole year, all day shooting seven days a week except a few holidays I think. I really don't want too many people to find out about this place but if you are willing to drive that far for a decent place to shoot then this place is worth it, IMO.

One word of caution if you view any Youtube videos of 340 defense and the date filmed is from last year - they really don't work that way anymore, 340 Defense has new owners -they used to manage the place and now they have a few new rules. But almost anything goes as long as you are safe and considerate of others.

Izaak Walton Leagues in both Fairfax and Loudun have pretty nice ranges. You have to join each respective club to shoot there, or go with a member.

Peacemaker National Training Center has some great ranges. 300 yard public range which I believe is $15 a day to shoot at. They also have two 1000+ yard ranges for members. The downside is that they are a ways out there in WVA.

Haven't been to 340 yet, but I've heard mostly good things.

For indoor ranges, you have NRA HQ in Fairfax, Silver Eagle Group in Ashburn, and Blue Ridge Arsenal in Chantilly.

IWLA is a great outdoor range for rifle or longer distance target pistol.

Hands down the best indoor range in NOVA is the NRA Headquarters Range in Fairfax. Great facility that is well mainyained and professionally run.

Welcome to the area. Clarks Brothers isn't the best place to shoot an AR. You need to purchase their ammo and targets but the use of the range is free but you'll need to shoot from a bench and you need a second or two before shooting the next round.

I'm in the Centreville area and need to check out Range 82 it looks good from the website.

You're not that far from Elite Shooting Sports in Manassass. http://www.eliteshootingsports.com/

25, 50 & 100 yard ranges. If you go more than twice per month, get a membership.

In the end I joined 340 Defense. They're really f*** nice and included the cost of membership for the year in the $75 I paid for Steve to spend an hour showing me the ropes of the Nagant I just bought.
