I'm with Gotlabs. Been married for almost 26 years and wouldn't trade her for anything! Just got the kids out of the house and she can cook a good meal from scratch. What more do you want? Don't know if I could ever do the dating thing again. :friends:

The two biggest pains in life are job hunting and dating; they're even similar.

I'm trying online dating and am not a fan. Lots of crazies, indeed. Haven't really met a good one yet. I am in NOVA though, so lots of lefties that hate liberty.

It worked out for me pretty well. I met mine thru the vcdl pretty much. We dated for two years and got married last September.

Now i can't say she enjoys it to the level i do, but she enjoys shooting and understands the reasons to carry.

Now that's a whole different level. I don't think I would OC on the first several dates.

I guess those gun-and-liberty-hating gals like that are pretty rare out here in the hills because there are so few guys that don't have/carry/like guns they either left in a panic or died of old age without reproducing. Good for us!

SWMBO is probably as non-gun oriented as about any female in the area outside of college campuses and school faculties. She doesn't shoot and is pretty much afraid of guns. Feels sorry for Bambi and all that. But she knows and accepts that it is part of the very fabric of life in these mountains, and keeps her peace. I'm not very familiar with this on-line dating business (for which I most fervently thank the Good Lord), but if you can concentrate your search on rural areas, maybe you should try that. Perhaps you can find a country gal that's killed her own dinner before who wants to escape to the big city and the bright lights. If not, maybe you can at least find one like SWMBO; who will quietly find somewhere to go shopping while you kill something and accept what must be.

Gun-crazy? Me? I'd say the gun-crazy ones are the ones that don’t HAVE one.

This is what I will add. When I was young I was ambivalent about guns. Just did not care much. I was not against them, pro-gun, but I had never really handled one. Then came baby #3 and a scary experience in a park and a job for my husband that took him out of town from time to time. I went from ambivalent to interested to an avid 2nd amendment supporter in a matter if days.

Find a good woman that at least does not hate guns. If she loves you is a faithful woman and makes a good wife and partner (and I would add loves God), then everything else will fall into place.

Cornered cat is a great place to start for women who fall into my category of curious, but don't know where to start.

Now where do you look? Chris and I met young in a Christian college ministry. Live your life, do fun stuff, and keep your eyes peeled.

What MamabeaCali said +1

I will also say Hiya Tracy, welcome.

I was similar to MambearCali in my political views, I grew up around them, my dad had them all the time, with the old fashioned gun case that is pretty with wood and glass. Just did not even thing to get one before.

I was in ROTC, got to shoot my first 50 caliber. I was an ok shot, and all that. Parents in military all my life.

Country boys, and men who were taught to be honest, hard working, and good to their women have always had a special place in my heart. Helps when your daddy is one example of those men.

Met Husband online not on dating site, but on gaming site. MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online game, because I am a dork/geek/nerd) we hit it off and have been together for 10 years now. We both did not have guns at the time, I had more training then he had, but now we both have our own. We have both been through training, and lots of it, and we both love our own guns.

Honestly did not think much about guns till I had my babies, and realized if cornered how would I protect them if attacked. A projectile that would stop an assailant before they could get to my babies is the best idea.

Got myself trained and very very familiarized with my weapon of choice. As I do I read a lot and learned as much as I could cram in as possible. Learned about the 2A trials and tribulations and have become a huge supporter, proponent for keeping our rights.

My best piece of advice for what it is worth (I have made my fair share of mistakes, and have seen my friends do so as well). Stop actively looking. I find when a person is looking sometimes unwittingly give off I am desperate to find some one vibes/reactions etc. Go do something you love, something that you have a blast in (not expecting to find anyone, just do it for fun). Go shooting, go on girls night at Blue Ridge Arsenal =). Meet some people have fun. Then you will find some one, that likes you, and likes the things you like to do. If you like to game, go game on a MMO, if you like to go kayaking go do that, and meet up with people who do, or camping, or hiking etc.

If you don't like going clubbing with loud music and lots of libations, don't go do that, don't find a pretty face there. Later on down the line you will not like that person doing that very thing you don't like, even though you met them doing that when you first met. That is a recipe for failure. Seems like common sense, but lots of people do make that mistake.

 and good luck!

Thanks for the welcome, everyone. This forum has been really valuable to me, even though I've only been lurking.

I have two brothers (no sisters), so I am pretty tough to offend.

Thanks for a great forum!! (and happy chick-hunting...it IS the Easter season, afterall)

I do remember the days of bar-hopping, clubbing, whatev. I thought I was having fun, but know now that it was an excuse to be stupid. This little ditty kind of sums it all up, and has a funny twist at the end so make sure to listen all the way through. :hysterical:

Craigslist, that's the best place to find a reputable girl that likes guns. :hysterical: Of course, she may like knives also.....and may want to use them on you.......along with her guns. Guns as in weapons, not her massive biceps.
