22lr low noise

Been seeing 22lr ammo that is primer fired, low velocity and limited range (50-100 ft). Most of it says it is not intended for rifles, only pistols. Which brand can be reliably used in rifles without jamming in the barrel?

Low velocity .22LR shouldn't be used in any semi-autos because they will mostly not cycle the action completely. The quiet .22LR is intended for manually cycling of a semi-auto or a manual fed firearm. However, for CCI Quiet .22, I believe you need around a 21" barrel to achieve the noise specs. When I inquired of them, CCI suggested the bullet would stabilize (Miller Stability Formula) as slow as 300fps in the typical 1:16" twist. I don't have the bullet specs to verify that, but a pistol should be able to generate that velocity just fine. CCI claimed that you'd get 90% of the speced velocity on the Quiet 22 ammo in a 10" barrel.

Sounds to me like I shouldn't use it in my carbine. Just want to take out some varmints and not get the neighbors all in a bundle. Guess I'll scope my pellet rifle. Thanks for the input.
