Can you carry at Richmond home show?
Can you carry at Richmond home show?
Possibly headed to the home & garden show at the Richmond raceway complex. Are they CC friendly? Does the RIR complex post signs or wand/search people coming in? I know when the state fair was there, they had many big signs prohibiting weapons.

The Richmond Raceway Complex events page links directly to the Home and Garden show website. http://richmondhomeandgarden.com/
I don't see anything prohibiting firearms. If you want to stir the pot, you can call the Home and Garden Show folks here: 804-748-7469 (H&G Contact page)

We continue to listen to fan feedback in order to provide the best guest experience. As part of this effort, and thanks to advancements in security technology and tactics, we’ve enhanced our guidelines on items fans may carry into our facilities. With safety in mind, and to ensure a timely entry, the following Grandstand Policies will be maintained:
Fans may enter Richmond International Raceway with:
One soft-sided cooler, no larger than 14x14x14 inches, to ensure coolers fit underneath grandstand seats and do not block walkways. Coolers with telescoping handles or wheels and hard-sided coolers are not permitted.
Fans may utilize lightweight backpacks or daypacks, similar to those used by school students, to bring in items such as scanners, souvenirs purchased in the Midway and cameras.
The soft-sided insulated cooler may contain ice.
Fans may bring their own food and beverages into the grandstands as long as it is brought in the approved bags/coolers described above.
Fans are allowed to bring in one of each of the bags described above, per person (child and adult) entering the grandstands.
Binoculars, scanners, headsets and cameras (including personal video cameras), not placed in a bag, but worn separately over the neck or on the belt and seat cushions carried separately are also allowed.
Seat cushion bags with compartments are reviewed on an individual basis.
Seat cushions with arm rests are not allowed.
All items brought through a grandstand gate will be inspected before admission is granted.
Personal use video cameras are permitted. No commercial reproduction of footage is allowed without written permission of the raceway and sanctioning body licensing officials.
Flags are acceptable for admission, provided they are not attached to poles and do not obstruct other fans’ viewing of racing activities. No flag poles of any type will be allowed. Small nationality flags attached to a pencil-sized diameter wooden stick will be allowed.
The following MAY NOT enter the admission gates:
Firearms, fireworks and items
Glass containers restricted by local, state or federal laws
Pets
Beach balls
Strollers
Hard-sided coolers and insulated cups of any size
Umbrellas
Seats with arm rests

That's for a race & sitting in the grand stands......not a home show.
You never enter the grand stands at the shows.
Interesting conundrum.......

Sounds to me like their facilities would include the buildings, but you can always call and ask.

Re: Can you carry at Richmond home show?
Just thought I'd follow up here. I know that, a few years back, for most events you parked in the field and went in through the same entrance that you went through for the State Fair. Big signs for rules, including no weapons.
What I experienced yesterday was different. There was a large gravel lot adjacent to the buildings where the home show was taking place. There was a big sign at one of the buildings denoting that it was the main entrance. There were no signs prohibiting guns in the parking lot, nor was there one at the entrance. Once inside, there was a ticket counter and someone taking tickets, and then you walked on in to where the vendors were. There were several different "buildings", but they were all connected, so you never went outside to go from one to the next.
Bottom line... I CC'd with no problem.

Re: Can you carry at Richmond home show?
It's a grandstand thing. A lot of sports venues have this for some reason. Possibly because of the potential for emotional outbursts. Fights break out more often at races, football games, baseball, etc, than garden shows.
