Howdy all! Been on VaGT and been looking for a range in the Winchester area. Plan on joining the WFCCC as soon as I can. I'm a late bloomer to gunning and look forward to shooting more. Hope to see some of you at the range!
If guns cause crime all mine are defective!

Howdy! Used to come up to Elizabeth Furnace and Powels Fort all the time. Exit 6 on 66, take a left, at the 7-11 take a right (I think its 55) and then it's a hop, skip and a jump. Is the Waterlick store still open? I remember years ago they had barn burners (strike anywhere matches) and I bought them cause they're almost impossible to find anywhere else.
You ain't one of the locals that fish out all the trout in Passage creek when they stock are ya?
Thanks to all for rolling out the welcome wagon! Appreciate it!
Chasbo - I'll look that range up. Thanks for the tip.
Hocktl - questions, questions! No, the Waterlick Grocery closed down a few years back. Some guys tried to open a bicycle shop there on account of all the bikers that ride FV Road and drive the locals to distraction. And the cover over the front of the building fell off a few weeks back. They didn't put it back, just put a new roof on the building. And no, I'm not one of those guys that fishes out all the hatchery spawn. I do go down to watch though. Kind of comical to watch 'em with their rainbow colored processed cheese bait. It's the type of slaughter I'd rather not participate in.

Yeah, I can't tell you how many times I'd watch em sit there and catch 6 and 30 minutes they'd be right back to catch 6 more.
Have had a lot of good times there. Used to know one of the rangers that came through daily. Saw him several years in a row and he would stop and have coffee with us on a regular basis. Great guy.
I have many sea stories from the years up there.
Last couple years we had homeless guy that had a camp up around signal knob come around and we made the mistake of feeding him once and from that day on he was like a cat you fed in your back yard. Couldn't gat rid of him. Never failed, every time we went up there it wasn't 2 hours and he would show up.
Haven't been up in several years. Maybe next fall.
