VCDL Alert about Bank of America shutting down a local guy!

Post by Reverenddel »

. Time to boycott Bank of America - anti-liberty bank shuns local gun dealer
*********************************************************

I got the following email from Richard Hanes and I have personally called Gary Lewis, who owns Gary's Guns & Transfers, to confirm. And it is even worse than described in that email - Bank of America is now demanding that Gary AND his WIFE close out all their company AND personal loans, checking, and savings accounts and cease to be a customer of BOA! Gary's accounts and safety deposit box are all in excellent standing and have been for the last TWENTY YEARS.

When Gary went to the bank to close out his safety deposit box, and, for the first time ever at that bank, there was an armed guard present.

I have bought guns from Gary and he has always struck me as professional and ethical. This attack on him is uncalled for and we need to all walk away from Bank of North Korea, er, America.

Gary Lewis, owner of Gary's Guns & Transfers, is my neighbor and good friend. I helped him a lot when he was starting his business about 5 years ago after he purchased Jim Jarrett's inventory when NYC/Bloomberg forced Jim to shut down.

I sent him an email about Bank of America shutting down Gun manufacturer's accounts some time ago.

He just called me to tell me that BOA had just done the same to him, without cause or reason. They even locked up his safety deposit box and restricted his access, telling him he had to make an appointment to empty his safety deposit box and if he did not do so they would drill it and take the contents!

I too have done business with Gary. He is an upstanding honest dealer.

BOA will NEVER get a penny of my money.

What was the reason? Just because he was a gun dealer? If so that sounds like law suit material to me. BOA routinely is rated in the top five for worst customer service of any company...not just for banks.

I was a long time BOA customer until about 7 yrs. ago. It was then that they stated they would provide mortage loans for illegal aliens. I had been an unhappy customer for a while anyway, and this was the proverbial straw for me. I left and never looked back. I am with Selectbank now and couldn't be happier. F*&k Bank of America.

Here's the sign posted at every BB&T that I've been to - both on the doors and the drive through window.

HMMMM …. Doesn't come right out and say no guns. Just that circle-with-the-slash with the silhouette of a pistol in it and the legend "Report any incident…” I think I could argue with a straight face that was somewhat ambiguous and therefore did not constitute clear notice of a “NO GUNS” policy. If they’re going to have such a policy, they ought to have the guts to say so in plain language rather than just dropping a strong hint like that.

I don't disagree with you at all regarding the lack of clarity of the sign. However, to clarify any ambiguity regarding their intentions, here's a link to their formal policy, which states:
BB&T 2012 Policies and Procedures wrote: CORPORATE SECURITY POLICIES
Employee Guidelines

It is important for employees across the Corporation to understand the important role that each one
has in maintaining the most secure working environment possible. A secure workplace is positively
impacted by employees who:
- ...
- ...
• Know that employees and clients are not permitted to bring firearms or other weapons into BB&T buildings. The only exceptions to this policy will be for armored car services personnel, third party ATM service personnel, and law enforcement officers who are authorized by appropriate authorities to have such weapons in their possession.

How/why does anyone still have a BOA account? They're routinely rated the worst in every possible category.

Here's how I read it, I won't bring a gun you can see on the property and if I get caught and you ask me to leave I'll be taking my money with me. Now tell me bank manager who's right you or my money?
