New From New York
New From New York
Hello to the forum. Thanks to Governor Cuomo and the anti Civil Rights legislature of New York, my plans to emigrate to Virginia have been moved up. I am a political refugee.
We are looking at moving to the Amelia / Powhatan area within the next year. Any information of locations to look at /avoid is very welcome. We would prefer something more rural to suburban. My ideal would be enough land to safely shoot on my own property. I work in the computer field (Applications Trainer / Graphic Designer) so high speed internet is a requirement at home.
I am a volunteer with the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association here and plan to volunteer with the VCDL one we move. I'm also a volunteer firefighter and hope to continue that service in Virginia as well.
I look forward to being a valuable member of this forum and whatever community we move to in Virginia.
David

Welcome aboard, David. I don't know anything at all about the Powhatan area, but I do wish you the best. Hopefully you can get out of New York before Cuomo comes knocking on your door and demanding relinquishment!

I'm from Deer Park, in Suffolk county.
Feels weird typing that out, I haven't given it a thought in years!

Not as weird as the snickers I've gotten since moving to VA when I mention having lived in "Hicksville", NYKreutz wrote:I'm from Deer Park, in Suffolk county.

By the way, I also lived in Deer Park for a while right off of Deer Park Ave.
