Chantilly gun show
Re: Chantilly gun show
She had NO IDEA where the mag went. It was quite obvious she has never handled a weapon.

Great SITREP - thanks!Glockem wrote:My wife and I just left the show. What a pointless attempt at ammo or finding a Glock 17. The ammo was 2-3x the price you can get it for at Walmart, and they are raping customers there. They also changed the price of admission on Wednesday for a 1-day pass from $12 to $13 and a 3-day went from $18 to $20. The crowds tonight were unbelievable, and good luck finding 9mm ammo anywhere in bulk. I found one dealer on the far left wall that was decent pricing on 9mm for UMC & Federal for $250 or a case and $500 for 1k rounds of the Federal 9mm. The entire gun show was littered with M-16 parts dealers and M-16 gear, parts, mods, etc. The selection on Glocks were very limited except for the long slide models in 40, 45, and 10mm. I did not see one new 9mm Glock, and I was shocked.
So we drove to two Walmarts this evening after the show and bought 12 boxes of 100 round Winchester 45 for $40 a box. The best price I saw tonight on the same product was $58 a box. Lots of 22lr available tonight as well, but bricks of 22lr were going for $69-$80. Amazing. Sorry for rambling, but I wanted to get everything down on here that I could still remember.
My wife was praising a friend of hers on Facebook for standing in line "for hours" waiting to get into the Chantilly show. Didn't go well for me when I told her that her friend is probably pretty stupid going there for what she's looking for.

Re: Chantilly gun show
which walmart are you guys finding .22lr bricks? I've tried both Fairfax and Fairlakes and they're always out! I'd pay a finders fee if somebody wants to pick me up a couple of bricks!
Re: Chantilly gun show
Glockem, thanks for saving me a wasted day! I figured it would be just as you described.

To anyone who went over the last couple of days. Was the vendor that has all the magazines there? If so did they have anything in stock? I'm looking for some Sig P226 magazines and they are in short supply. Not sure I want to spend $13 to walk out without anything.
Re: Chantilly gun show
Not interested at all. I thought the Chantilly show was a joke BEFORE the recent gun hysteria. Sure not gonna go back with sellers gouging ignorant buyers. That absolutely is not a crowd I want to be a part of.
Will maybe go back this summer when the insanity has died and people are trying to sell their lightly used weapons dirt cheap.

Re: Chantilly gun show
My son is in on leave so we tried to go to the show Friday afternoon. At ~ 1530 the parking lots were jammed, the aisles were packed with cars searching for slots, the lines stretched 'way, 'way around the building. We decided that even if we could get inside, we wouldn't be able to see much, or to shop for the minor items we were looking for. So it wasn't worth the price of admission or the anticipated hassle. He will try again next year. In the meantime, I will keep on the lookout for reasonably priced ammo, try to encourage my legislators to pay attention to their constituents' concerns and rein in an increasingly out of control Federal Executive branch, plan to participate in Virginia's upcoming election, and pray for a return to Constitutional principles.

Yeah they were there, all the way to the back right, place called "CLIPS". They seemed to have good stock(obv at inflated prices) but unsure of Sig as I wasn't looking for it. Everytime I've purchased a mag there, I've walked across another table that has it for $5~ less.zykur wrote:To anyone who went over the last couple of days. Good luck if you go, I went at 11am and the line was minimal.
Re: Chantilly gun show
Well, I made the trek today, Walked right in around 1200 as there was no line. Inside was jam packed, bumping into people every aisle. It took me about 2 hours to walk every aisle and on the last one I found an older gentleman selling optics with 20% off. Picked up a 3x9 with red dot and a light for a decent price for my Armalite. Ammo was priced through the roof and people were buying it! I did see quite a few great knifes but most were over priced as well. I was after ammo, optics and a good range bag. I was 1 for 3 and should have bought the bag, decent price but I wanted out of there.
Re: Chantilly gun show
Once again they suckered me in. It doesn't help its a few miles from my house. The prices were just outrageous for everything.
I looked for factory Sig mags they were selling for $85 each, I'd rather take my chances online. As for the custom holsters a pre-made kydex for the Sig was $165. I can get two online for that price.

Re: Chantilly gun show
I found plenty of .40 Glocks at several vendors. The CZ folks had plenty of 9mm CZs, and quite frankly their better than Glocks as far as I'm concerned. I did manage to sell my FN-49 Friday, $750, so that made it worth it to me. Anyway, no point going to the gun show to buy ammo. Buying reloading supplies, however, is what you should have bought.
Re: Chantilly gun show
I did by reloading supplies
2 x 1lbs Benchmark powder (for my .308 as there was no Vargent or any other powder for .308 to be found)
1000 Large Rifle Primers
I did break down and by a second 25 round mag for my M&P 15/22 ($75 was the cheapest that I have found online or at the show)

Re: Chantilly gun show
As to the Wal-mart .22LR bricks? They're stocking things DIFFERENTLY because they're getting a bit aggravated with the same group of early risers getting all the ammo.
So they're breaking it into different stock times.
Because I got three boxs of .22LR AR-22 CCI ammo 375 count at 15:30 at the Colonial Heights Wal-mart.

Their name drives me crazy because they sell nearly ZERO clips! Lots of mags, but practically no clips.innova wrote:Yeah they were there, all the way to the back right, place called "CLIPS".
