Chris Kyle, Sniper Legend, Shot and Killed

Post by Jakeiscrazy »

Wow, American sniper legend Chris Kyle was shot and killed by a fellow veteran that he was trying to help overcome PTSD. Another man, also with the group, was killed as well. The motive for the shooting is not yet clear. Chris served 4 tours and had over 160 confirmed hills. True american hero, its crazy to think that he survived such dangerous places only to be killed my someone he was trying to help.

^ ^ ^ Dude. PTSD is not exactly a "mental problem." Perhaps you would rephrase or reconsider?

"The fatal shooting comes after week filled with gun related incidents -- a teen who participated in inaugural festivities was shot to death in Chicago, a bus driver was fatally shot and 5-year-old was taken hostage in Alabama and a Texas prosecutor was gunned outside a courthouse."

All Bullsh!t Corp News just gotta add an out of context and out of proportion bit of anti gun crap, don't they. I wish they would FOAD.

PTSD is a mental issue/problem. What else would you call it?

"According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), over a third of people in most countries report problems at some time in their life which meet criteria for diagnosis of one or more of the common types of mental disorder." - wikipedia

From another website-
"It's YOU that can't see the difference my friend. PTSD is just like any other disease or illness. It can be bad or there can be just a hint. I was diagnosed with PTSD in 2008 after a particularly rough second deployment. While the tough side of me refused to accept the diagnosis, I knew there was a change in me. I had become slightly paranoid even if it was illogical. I thought the absolute worst in situations that probably didn't warrant that response, and I prepared myself mentally to deal with that threat.

I was told by the mental health professional that I have to want to get better and that's what would happen. That's what I did and I continued for nearly 4 more years in the Infantry as a squad leader and a Drill Sgt. Furthermore, I left the active duty military and serve full time on the local police department sharing my tactical experience with other officers to better our community. I use my Saturday mornings through 10 weeks of the year to teach the youth of my community in our 4H shooting sports how important gun safety and respect is. I am also a trap shooting instructor. I enjoy guns on a daily basis both resonsibly and legally. I have no thoughts of killing in cold blood.

If you think PTSD is a blanket diagnosis and we should be stripped of our gun rights, you can go to hell.

P.s. I'd be willing to bet that either diagnosed or not, Chris had PTSD. You don't see the things he saw without it affecting you mentally. "

I think we are viewing yet another avenue to deny citizens their rights, and I have no interest in furthering that effort.

I'll tell you what, I'll create another thread to continue this side of the discussion. As to not detract or defer attention from Chris Kyle or his memory.

Rest In Peace Brave Soldier. I never got the chance to meet you, but you did so much for Soldiers with PTSD that I know there is a reserved spot waiting for you in Heaven

Interview he did at SHOT Show this year. Gives insight of how Chief thought about certain subjects and what he and his company was going forth with.
