Any CZ owners?

Post by MattS »

I'm looking at picking up a CZ P-01. I like it on paper, but obviously finding one to hold in a store is near impossible right now, and they aren't usually on the rental list. Primarily I like the size (mid-size?) and that it can use the larger CZ mags for use at the range. I like the metal construction and that it passed a NATO torture test.

I've read plenty of positive reviews (mostly positive, some downright glowing) of it on general gun owner forums (not just the CZ fan page), but I'm cheap, so I figured I'd solicit some more input if there is any. I've found a shop online with stock (at least right now anyway) at a non-gouging price, so that obviously is a bonus as well. I started to lean towards getting a decocker-type handgun, so I was basically down to the P-01 vs. the Walther P99. The Walther is much harder to find, more expensive, and I believe the mags will be even tougher to find as well. Anyway, look forward to any input. I guess the worst case is I can sell it for nearly what I pay for it now.

I have a P07 Duty .40 cal. Love it. 200 rds and not a single misfire. I also have a cz shotgun (Huglu) with about 25 rounds of skeet without an issue.

I am a fan.

I never tried the P-01, but I've shot the CZ-75 a few times and have a CZ-82 that I like a lot. I think CZ's are a good value.

Got a CZ52 (7.62x25) and a CZ-75B (9mm). Both are good pistols. The 75B is a very nice one that looks borderline beautiful and functions flawlessly. The 52 is a butt-ugly eastern-block military pistol, but it was dirt cheap and it functions perfectly. Both are accurate and easy to shoot. When I bought the CZ-52 back in the late 1980s for $70-some or so, my pappy told me "Boy, you might as well have tamped that money up a wild hog's ass"; and I figured he was more than likely right, but it was only $70-some bucks and I was curious about that communist pistol with the weird necked-in bullets. I could have bought a bushel basket full of them and probably got the price down some - and I wish I had.

Thanks for the input. Backs up what I've been reading, although it seems quite difficult to find a truly "bad" pistol these days from a known manufacturer.

I used to own a P-01, I regret trading it. I owned it for about 6 months and ran over 1500 rounds through it. That gun was flawless.

I've fingered a couple of P-01s. They're nice, balance well, and I love the decocker instead of the safety. I'd totally get one if I was in the market.

I've always been impressed with the quality to dollar ratio of CZs offerings. Not always the sleekest offering, but well built and functional. You won't go wrong picking one up.

I have several firearms made by those fine people. My CZ-75b, my Vz-24, my Vz-52, and my Vz-54/91. When the current $h1+storm dies down, I'm looking for a Vz-58. People are wanting crazy money for Century builds, screw that.
