New Gun Store in King George - Big Dog Outfitters

Post by allingeneral »

Big Dog Outfitters has opened a gun shop in King George County right next door to Rankins True Value at the intersection of Routes 205 and 301.

Here they are on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/BigDogOutfitters?ref=stream

Outdoor Equipment Store · Archery · Gun Store
11465 Ridge Road
King George, VA.
(540) 775-2605

I went in and talked to the owner for a little bit last week and he seems like a nice guy. There were two other guys showing guns and working on inventory. They have a lot of space to fill, but their inventory is growing by the day.

If you live in the area, stop by and see them. Tell them that VGOF sent you!

I bought two guns from them and I was very satisfied with the quality of service they provided. The guns I bought was a Remington 1911 R1 and a S&W 38 Special. Like Rick said, they're inventory is growing. I highly recommend a visit to Big Dog outfitters.
Let us speak courteously, deal fairly, and keep ourselves armed and ready.

I went by there Wednesday, they (especially the owner Charles) and actually some of their customers were very helpful. They still had some bulk 7.62, and a nice stock of ARs, and a couple of AKs. Prices were very much in tow considering the current atmosphere and demand. It was very nice to deal with them, as they were very patient (I took 2 hours to make up my mind) and it was nice not dealing with the crowd @Green Top. I hate going to GreenTop anymore.

I made a nice little 26" purchase, though I am finding ammo for it hard to find :( Managed to get an order in today for the ammo I need (hopefully), and Charles sold me what he had.

Personally I am glad I stopped in, wish I had done so when he first opened TBH, would have saved me a few hundred $$$. But he actually had a weapon I have wanted for a long while.

Has anyone noticed that all the old guys from GreenTop are being "thinned" out? I barely recognize anyone anymore.

I usually deal with the old crew from the 80's-90's. Either they're retiring, or just getting fed up. I know Colonial Shooting Academy stole most of the best, and brightest in gunstores, but I haven't seen them there.

Glad to hear it. I am fed up with Greentop, especially after their latest radio add on K95. Have you heard this one yet? They (some dude "Patrick") mentions going to peoples homes to buy their used guns. This bothers me. This means some poor little old grandma who doesn't know what she has is going to get strong armed into giving away a gun collection at cut rate prices. This is bull. What other client would need you to visit their home to buy their guns? This is a high pressure situation for someone who might not know what they have or have anyone else there to hear what BS they are told. Greentop has got too big for its britches. That is why the older wise men have left...

GTop is over the top. I used to love going in there... not anymore.

On a different note @Vacooner... That nick to me means you are a coonhunter. I grew up coonhunting and raised my boys following some RedBones and a few Walker dogs through the woods @night 3-4 times a week. My last dog passed about 5 years ago and I was reminiscing and actually wanting to get back into it a little... or at least find someone that hunts and tag along, lead a dog etc... PM me if you want... I would have to fix my light up, and check my boots...
