Any plans for marching on our state Capitol?

Post by formula73 »

I was just wondering if we had anybody that planned on hitting the steps of our Capitol the 19th. I'd like to-its only a couple hours away-but not alone. It sure seems higher profile than patting each other on the backs at ranges and gun stores, in other words, preaching to the choir.

I was wondering the same thing...VCDL has Lobby Day activities planned for
Monday the 21st in Richmond...and we really need people to attend that!

I talked with my DH, we are coming. Unless one of the kids has pneumonia we will all be there (2 adults, 4 children). Is there a meeting place yet?

I appreciate the fact that VCDL is organizing for the 21st, but on Saturday the 19th the entire country is organizing a march on all state Capitol buildings.
I don't want to see VA with a poor turnout.
Like most, I have a job and will not be able to attend on the 21st. I'd like to see VCDL support the event on the 19th as well.

Also, I have never attended a protest/march before (Have never been into that sort of thing), but this time I feel very strongly about what is going on.

I don't know anyone at VCDL, and if someone does, can they reach out and ask them to support and possible step up to help organize this?
I don't want to see us get shut down due to a technicality or something. Like not having a permit...I'm not sure how to go about getting that.

Any help would be appreciated.

This is what I'm talking about. I'm not even sure I'd feel appropriate, in retrospect, going to a VA gun lobby because I'm military and still a WA state resident.

Is there anything in the works? The lobby is great but a real march would really let people know how we feel. It would also give us the opportunity, should any press show up, to show the rational side of us 'gun nuts', that we're all not just Alex Jones clones-maybe more Ben Shapiro.

I have no contact anywhere but here. I have no idea how this works though.

Me neither, nor do I have the organizational skills to make it happen. I suppose if we just plaster that link on every gun related forum we attend we might get somewhere?

Update: I just found out that VCDL will not support the "Guns Across America" march this saturday.
They feel that it will somehow take away from their Lobby Day on the 21st.

So, without them I don't see anyone else who could step up and provide a good level of organization.

However, with that said, I think we should all make an effort to attend both events if possible. This Saturday will be a National event and gain a lot of attention. VA needs to stand up and be counted!

I was planning on going to both. Hmmmmm.....that is a pickle. I hate to not show up. But then again it might look far worse to have 5 of us show up as well. Scratching my head.
