critically important Governor's election coming up in Virginia in 2013.
Almost certainly the Republican nominee will be Ken Cuccinelli, our current Commonwealth Attorney General.
As certainly, the Democratic nominee will be Terry McAuliffe.
Cuccinelli and McAuliffe are like day and night when it comes to conservative values and gun rights.
Current republican Governor Bob McDonnell and Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli have been stalwart friends of gun owners in Virginia who
achieved the elimination of the one-gun-a-month scheme and an expansion of places where gun owners can legally
carry in the state. And despite a lousy economy nationwide, they presided over a relatively prosperous period
for Virginia in recent years, helping to maintain an unemployment rate that was well below the nationwide average.
Bob McDonnell enjoys an extremely high popularity rating in Virginia. Ken Cuccinelli will continue the trend of
prosperity and protection of gun owner rights.
Terry McAuliffe, on the other hand, is very problematic character. McAuliffe is a New York liberal who has parachuted
into the state to run for govenor, certainly as a springboard to loftier positions in the democratic party. He has
minimal contacts with Virginia, save a part-time residence in northern Virginia. He has recently stated that he supports
Feinstein's assault weapons ban and would support one in Virginia. He wants to roll back the gains gun owners have made
under McDonnell (as well as previous blue-dog democrat govenors) such as the repeal of one-gun-a-month, the preemption law,
and the expansions of places where gun owners can legally carry. On top of that, when this guy started a car building business,
he placed those jobs in Mississippi. Not that our brothers in Mississippi don't deserve work, but McAuliffe screwed Virginians
out of jobs on that deal.
Virginia is a diverse state, but by and large we are conservative. Even many of our democrats are gun-rights supporters. We have
fantastic gun laws and our freedoms have been expanded considerably under our current governor and Ken Cuccinelli. The last thing
we need is a northeastern liberal coming into our state and turning us into another northeastern hellhole.
It's not too early to start supporting Ken Cuccinelli. Get the word out. I tell you, McAuliffe will be troubel for our rights if
he is elected.
