Rent out your private land for some newlywed shooters?

Post by 5280Transplant »

I am looking to do some outdoor shooting (9mm and .22 rifle) and I don't want to go to an indoor range. I would love to find someone with some land that my wife and I can practice on for a couple of hours. She is new to shooting and gets a bit overwhelmed inside with multiple people/guns. I don't want to turn her off shooting, so I think some private/quiet land to ease her into shooting might be best. We are located in NoVa, but we can travel a bit to get there.

I am also using this as an excuse to meet some new people who love to shoot! It is rare in NoVa.

Thanks, guys. :machinegun:

There's the Izaak Walton League in Leesburg. I'm a member of the Winchester chapter and am usually the only shooter on the line during the week.

I would really like to hear more about ^ this. $140.00 is out of my budget right now (I, like everyone else, am stocking up on "Scary" things). I will certainly look into this next year.

Also, do they offer guest passes, or one day memberships?

How are the crowds on the weekends?

Not sure about the Leesburg chapter but in Winchester I've never had to wait more then a few mins for a lane on the weekends. No daily or guess passes, you have to buy a membership.

Don’t know where in Northern VA you’re located so take this with that unknown. Winchester Conservation Club has a range approx. 5 miles north of Winchester off 522, most of the time nobody the place is empty. You can join at Old Dominion Sports Center on Valley Ave in Winchester for $80, I think…been a long time since I joined. Anyway after you join you can go shoot, yearly dues are $50.
