My new Daniel Defense M4.

CAA vert grip, CAA pistol grip, magpul ACS stock, magpul BAD lever, aimpoint comp M2, MBUIS, Colt quick detach button, 1:7 RH twist, I have and am highly considering installing the PCW muzzle brake.

Luckily, I got it on Saturday at the Fredericksburg gun show. Thanks trader Jerry!

Whatcha think?

I had a SCAR 17 and 16. I also had a bunch of Glocks and a couple H&K pistols. Oh and a DDM4, but I sold everything when our government told me these dangerous tools can actually hurt someone. Apparently they grow legs and go on killing sprees.

DD makes great rifles! I love their Omega rails because their narrower on the sides so it feels more natural when not using a vertical grip. Also, that's a cool rail model which allows you to get a light/whatever way out there which helps a lot if you suppress it. Magpul is awesome and the BAD lever is a great add on.

You just need a really nice trigger (recommend the Wilson Combat TTU in single stage...unbelievably good), a quality QD 5.56mm suppressor, a BCM gunfighter latch (recommend the large as it's just right IMHO), a tritium front post insert from Trijicon (same for the rear), LaRue QD-Levers for everything, a tactical light (I like the lighter models like a Surefire Scout and use the tail cap vice the pressure switch...ps's are always getting activated at the wrong moment under stress), and the Magpul single/dual point sling with QDs.

Definitely an excellent rifle, congrats! You might like this video: https://danieldefense.com/TortureTest

Edit: FYI, that TTU is expensive, but seriously is better than most 1911 triggers I've tried...until you're talking big money like WC, Les Baer, etc. Weighting is perfect for a CQB AR15 and I prefer the single stage unless it's a long range precision setup; no need for slack take-up. Eventually every AR I have will have one in it!

Thanks gunder! Before I bought it I watched the torture test video and was convinced. I've had one too many DI failures to not have one of the best M4 platforms available. I love my 2 SCARs, but I have an affinity for the weapon system I carried for a few years.

Honestly, I love the trigger that is on it now. It is smooth with a quick reset and no grit whatsoever. It's honestly better than my SCARs and the 17S cost me twice as much as this. So far, I love the weight, modularity, ergonomics, and trigger all without even putting a round through it yet. Lol

Sunday I'll pop it's cherry.

JW, sounds like an awesome rifle, so I'll take one of the two SCAR 17S off your hands. I'm even willing to make the sacrifice and take one off your hands at no charge to you (and me, of course).

Nice AR - will have to tell us how it goes!

Shoot, I wish I had 2 17S's! I have the 17S and the 16S. 17s-.308(7.62 NATO) and 16S-.223(5.56 NATO)

With the money I have tied up in those, I could have bought half a dozen top shelf ARs. Lol, but once you use one, it's hard to not have one. ;)

It allows me to have a proper cheek weld.

I have that exact same M4 but with other sights and grips and, its ate probably 20k rounds with no problems that I can think of.

If you're gonna do a trigger mod get the Geissele and don't fuss with anything else other then maybe KAC's 2-stage which is a work of proved perfection but pricey. Get a Geissele! My DD has a McCormick but if I had the time I'd pull it and put a Geissele 2-stage.

Nice buy!

I've been thinking about that, but to be honest, the trigger on this one is down right awesome. You should feel the trigger on an Army issue Colt M4. Those need help. Lol

I do know what you mean though. Those triggers are nice.

JW, looking good!! Can't go wrong with Daniel Defense, in my book. After you pop her cherry, give us the comparo between the DD and the SCAR-17s.

I'm in the middle of an AR build myself (Noveske Gen 2 lower, VLTOR MUR upper, 12" LaRue handguard, Bravo Co BCG & SS 16" barrel, etc), and going with a Geissele SSA trigger. Once I get it together, we'll hit the range and you can see what you think of the Geissele.

Will do bro, but I'm thinking apples and oranges. I've added a PWS flash suppressing compensator since I posted the pictures. That should help to keep her in line. Further spreading the difference between the mighty SCAR 17 and it. Though the SCAR comes with a PWC from the factory, it's still a .308 caliber. Albeit, a .308 with very good manners. ;)

Yes, we need to hit the range together.

Nice!

Apples and oranges, true ... guess just want to know if you find one to be more "enjoyable" to shoot than the other. To me that SCAR has always looked like 10 lbs of fun in a 5 lb box.

Indeed sir. Indeed!

The SCAR 16S I have would be more of a fair shake. It's almost like shooting a .22 mag though. I mean no recoil, brother. It teeters on being (not exciting) dull. 30 rounds tacked exactly where you want it with no poi shift. I still don't understand why the US military hasn't gone with it instead of the M4. (scratches head)
