Day 46 in Fairfax County
Day 46 in Fairfax County
Submitted my renewal for CHP to Fairfax County by certified mail. It was received by the court August 1. It was my second time renewal so there should not have been any issues. My current permit expires on 10/15/12. What do you suppose could be the holdup? Have heard nothing to date.

With FFX County, who knows, but from the Virginia State Police :
If Your Application is Not Complete within 45 DaysIf the court has not issued the permit or determined that the applicant is disqualified within 45 days of the date of receipt noted on the application, the clerk shall certify on the application that the 45-day period has expired, and send a copy of the certified application to the applicant. The certified application shall serve as a de facto permit, which shall expire 90 days after issuance, and shall be recognized as a valid concealed handgun permit when presented with a valid government-issued photo identification until the court issues a five-year permit or finds the applicant to be disqualified. If the applicant is found to be disqualified after the de facto permit is issued, the applicant shall surrender the de facto permit to the court and the disqualification shall be deemed a denial of the permit and a revocation of the de facto permit. If the applicant is later found by the court to be disqualified after a five-year permit has been issued, the permit shall be revoked.

And if Bruce Dickinson wants more cowbell, we should probably give him more cowbell!

So you have to carry around temp papers for up to 90 days and they still can reject you? I thought they had 45 days to reject you and if time expires you're good. Bummer.

From what I've heard, Fairfax would rather you give up and not ask about the status of your permit than give it to you.
Here in Stafford, I got my CHP in 22 days.

15 here in PW. But I think my timing was good. I work in FFX and a lot of coworkers ask why I live in PW. FFX as a county is way to liberal I you ask me.SilentServiceVet wrote:From what I've heard, Fairfax would rather you give up and not ask about the status of your permit than give it to you.

My wife and I got our CHP's in Loudoun in 8 business days (11 calendar days).
Re: Day 46 in Fairfax County
Got mine in 9 business days. Spotsylvania county.
I had a SCAR 17 and 16. I also had a bunch of Glocks and a couple H&K pistols. Oh and a DDM4, but I sold everything when our government told me these dangerous tools can actually hurt someone. Apparently they grow legs and go on killing sprees.

Took 47 days for me in Fairfax county, after I called on day 45.
Re: Day 46 in Fairfax County
I did my paper work for renewal on Nov 11th. My permit doesn't expire until Feb but I wanted to make sure I had 90 days or so as recommended by a lot of the "experts". I received my permit in the mail today. That'[s 20 days including the Thanksgiving holidays. It took me 14 days to get my original 5 years ago. York County is one of the best! They are both friendly and professional at the Clerk of Court's office.
Why wouldn't you hold up the targets for me? It's a 9mm.
Re: Day 46 in Fairfax County
Looks like Fairfax County is getting their act together. Submitted my application on November 1st and it came in the mail sometime after Christmas. I had a clerical error on it and had to fix something and send it back.
